Underneath the miraculous doings of Billy Blue Sky is a genuine story of faith. As Koehler illustrates through Billy, a ten year-old with Down Syndrome, children often hold the keys to our understanding of God. However, Koehler falls short in keeping my attention with the whirlwind of events that seem to occur too quickly, too easily, that they are almost unbelievable. After 100 pages in, I wanted to finish the book simply to move on to my next book. Misguided and selfish Steve bothered me, and ...more

I received this book free from a giveaway on goodreads.com. Pretty disappointing...It must have been a self-published book as the proofreading was nonexistent. It was the story of a little boy with down syndrome who undergoes heart surgery and awakens with the power to heal people. Nice idea, but it was a bit too sickeningly sweet for my taste. The religious aspect of the book was a bit heavy handed for me as well.

First disclaimer - I received this as a Goodreads first reads give away.
Second disclaimer - I rate a little harder than most. I like to keep my 5 star for the few books that really are out of all other leagues. So for me, a three star is closer to most people's four star. It was a good book and I would recommend it.

This is a simple story, but grand in all that it encompasses. It is told from various perspectives, including that of Billy - a little boy with down syndrome. Billy has the ability to

Billy Blue Sky left me with mixed feelings... The book starts by telling you that before starting to read it you must "believe". I honestly wish I did. I was skeptic through the reading, and even though I could feel empathy for Billy and his family I was not fully enjoying the reading at first. Yet, I must admit that the second half of the book got me, the plot became faster and funner... and for a moment I felt that glimpse of faith that Billy asks you to have at the beginning of the story. I won this book through GoodReads First Read program.

What a great story. Billy Blue Sky is a little boy with downs syndrome who is able to start healing people following a heart sugery. Billy gives all the credit to God who just uses Billy. Of course once the word gets out many people want Billy to heal them and they will stop at nothing to get Billy to use his power. Billy gladly uses his power again and again for good. His dad who has gambling debts even hires a marketing company to promote Bi

I was a firstreads winner of this book on goodreads. Billy Blue Sky is a very special boy, Born with down syndrom and a heart condition. Billy also has a close connection with God, and through love and faith heals people. Loved the story line and characters but am so confused by the ending, if a certain character died or not. Please note the question below is in reference to that, and could be seen as a spoiler.
This part contains a spoiler. Did Steve die or not? He opens his eyes and goes to th

This book will have you laughing, crying and believing in miracles in general. It is an excellent read. I highly recommend this book. It took me 1 day to read it is a book that you will not want to put down. I hope that they make a movie out of this book. It is about a young man that goes through surgery with down's syndrome and when he wakes up he finds himself able to do some healing in more ways than you realize.

This book was written well, but the subject matter was difficult for me. I do not agree with choices Linda made regarding Steve and his treatment of Billy. I am also not a big fan of books involving supernatural themes, so it made it hard for me to really enjoy.

I found this book to be enjoyable and light-hearted. Billy's character is genuine and endearing, and easy to love. Although the story line seems far-fetched at first, John Koehler has a way of writing that makes the reader believe that Billy's gift could possibly be real.
