I really liked the photos of clay sculptures and the storytine, but the typography bothered me and I kepthaving to go back and reread the page.

Cool book about using your imagination. Neat pictures, mixed media of what looks like Plasticine, cardboard, and other household objects. Would work with a box/imagination storytime. 4+ for lots of text.

I liked the story pretty well, and the illustrations were interesting, but I couldn't stand reading it, mostly because the typewriter-style font in white was very difficult to read. I'm also really not a fan of constantly changing fonts and font sizes.

Leo shows off his brand new red bike in the schoolyard, but crashes into Kenny, who's sitting inside a cardboard box. Turns out Kenny has quite an imagination (which you might be able to tell from his wild hair!) The box turns into a race car, then a basket on top of the back of an elephant . . . Though Leo argues with him, Kenny stands by his imaginings. His storytellings draw the attention of other kids who all want to play in the box. Turns out there's even room for Leo.

Leopold's new bike makes him the envy of every kid in town, well, almost every kid. While Leopold is busy showing off his bright-red bike, with its loud bell and thunderbolt decal, imaginative and kindhearted Kobe plays in a box and pays no attention to the new bike. Leopold gets angry when he runs into Kobe's box while riding his bike, but he soon learns that the box can take the kids on the playground places that Leopold's bike never could-jungles, race tracks, and the sky! By the end of playt ...more

The Box is a great story about the power of imagination. Leo comes to school on his brand new bicycle. He rides around and around showing off for his classmates. His joy comes to an sudden halt when he crashes into a cardboard box. Kenny, who is inside the box, steals the spotlight from Leo with his wild tale of his adventures in the plain old box. The illustrations are cute but quite quirky. The biggest drawback is the font - it is hard to read and doesn't blend well with the illustrations.

I loved the imagination involved, but I didn't love the snooty character. Maybe it's because I was reading this story with my preschooler that I was sensitive to having our attention pulled toward a child character that was such an antagonist.

interesting claymation pictures. teaches about using imagination. you could also use it to intro a section on "what are things made out of" - anwser- "not cardboard boxes."

Love the illustrations (clay models) the story is nice, but it goes on too long.
