Yuck's Pet Worm

Rate this book
Yuck is the master of all things disgusting in these two tales—especially when he adds a squirmy pet and some gross-out tricks to the mix.

In “Yuck’s Pet Worm,” Yuck has a new pet—a worm called Fang. “Worms are disgusting!” his sister Polly says. “You can’t have a worm in the house!” Mom says. But Yuck thinks worms are awesome! But when he trains Fang to do disgusting tricks, things start to wiggle out of control….

In “Yuck’s Rotten Joke,” Polly’s report card is full of stars for good behavior, while Yuck doesn’t have any. He needs to score some by the end of the week, or he’ll be in BIG TROUBLE. Using his collection of practical jokes—from itching powder to Dogididapoo—can Yuck make sure he has the last laugh?

The first part of this book was alot of fun, what with Yuck having his pet worm, Fang, constantly going after his sister, Polly. He even used Polly's recorder to hypnotize a worm army into going after her.
After that, in the second part, we have Yuck and Eric challenging Polly and Lucy, their sisters, about getting 10 stars on their report cards. Of course, the boys do get the stars, but I do not approve of their methods.
-------------
The second part was so went so perfect for Yuck and Eric that it seemed unrealistic to me, and therefore it was boring and predictable. That, of course, took this from being a 4-star or 3-star book to being a mere 2-star book instead.
Also, none of the teachers caught on to Yuck and Eric constantly pranking their sisters? They got away with all those pranks AND got REWARDED for doing them? GET REAL!! Gimme a Break!
In real life, teachers would have saw through those tricks, parents would have been called on the boys, and butts would have been spanked. Plain ridiculous how this was handled.

It perpetuates too many male/female stereotypes.
