This one was intense with the suspense, for sure. It's always an interesting read when you know who the 'baddies' are from the get go (or at least the main baddie), instead of trying to figure out 'whodunnit'. In this case, being on the run from her father's enemy offered Maya and Conner ample time to connect, though I do think the romance ramped up too quickly, even despite the close proximity. (I guess I'm more of a slow burn fan.)

A very enjoyable quick read with many unexpected twists and turns within the plot. This is
a very fast moving suspense story with an unlikely romance. The characters get through all the dangerous and tense situations by relying on their faiths in God. A must read for a wonderful evening!!!

What Connor was told would be a routine repossession of a private Learjet in Belize turns out to be a reclaiming of a jet owned by a Colombian drug lord who has kidnapped the daughter of a rival. He and his brother take the jet but get the daughter as well. The drug lord and her father both want her. And the U.S. Government wouldn't mind getting her either. Lots of action but a rather unbelievable plot involving lots of stealing of planes.

I really liked the concept of dare-devil pilot Connor finding the kidnapped Maya on the airplane he was repossessing. While the timeline of their romance is fast, the severity of the situation they were thrust into seemed to justify the rapid-fire pacing. I'm glad Connor's co-pilot brother Jake is the focus of a later novel because I want to see more of him.

Overall I did enjoy this book so I would give it about a 3.5. The reason for this is the ending was to open for me. I wanted to know what happens to Maya's father, how Conner's brother responds to him being with Maya and a few other things. Other than that I enjoyed everything else.

TREACHEROUS SKIES
--------------------

The Positive
This novel has a good pace, and the story flows fairly well. In addition, the protagonist's background is fresh for the genre (e.g.--drug lord's daughter).

The Less-So
The book contains some narrative and other (mostly) non-grammatical issues. The story is reliant upon the internal monologue and roller coaster-ing emotions of both the protagonist and the potential love interest, which burdens the story for readers who are less emotionally driven.

Overall
Being kidnapped and tracked are (we imagine) traumatic and emotional experiences. However, such emotion does not always need to be indicated through narration. For me, personally, it would have been nice to deduce some of the backstory (especially about the ex-es) and emotion instead of being told about it repetitively.

Elizabeth Goddard is a master of unique and intriguing suspense plots. Who would have thought the shady and dangerous business of repossessing expensive planes could make such a fun romantic read? What makes Goddard's suspense stand out is her attention to research details. But the reason you fall in love with her stories is because of the wonderful, flawed characters and their romantic attraction to each other. If you love romance, and who doesn't, you'll enjoy the journey Maya and Connor must take to find love and happiness. No wonder Goddard wins awards.

Two souls with deep regrets find themselves in the crosshairs of a dangerous drug lord on the remote island of Golden Key after their mode of transportation; a repossessed Lear jet, is grounded. This romantic suspense travels at a high rate of speed as Maya Carpenter and Connor Jacobson race to escape her abductors, a seemingly impossible task unless they begin to trust each other and decide to resolve their pasts.

I'm not good at writing reviews. But I liked this book, it would be a good beach read or summer read for me. The storyline was good and the characters developed well over the course of the book. This was my first time reading this author, and I would look at reading some of her other stuff as well.
