I read the version with the original Keepers novel and book one of a series about Keepers in LA. I liked the "Keepers" twist to the paranormals - they are humans who have the role of keeping the various types of creatures (vampires, werewolves, elves, etc.) out of trouble and out of sight from other humans. In this world, the paranormal folk hold down regular jobs and interact in the human world, but keep their special abilities under wraps. I like Heather Graham's writing - she's got a good hand for a mystery although the romance is almost always overshadowed by the mystery.

These two books are basically the same story. I liked the older one set in NOLA better than the one set in LA. In both, someone is murdering humans by draining their bodies of blood. The human world figure it's some kind of cult or vampire wannbes. The creatures all figure it's actual vampires and a big blowout between the various types of creatures threatens which would expose them to humans and possibly wipe them out.

The keepers in both books are young (late twenties) women who have been thrust into the role unexpectedly. They are both aided by the detective investigating the crimes who just happens to be "other" also - in the NOLA book he's a vampire, in the LA book he's an Elf. Investigations go on, the main characters learn to trust each other and then fall in love, the crime is solved with a neat twist in the bad guy at the end.

The atmosphere of the NOLA book was just much better. In LA, Ms Graham seems to not be as sympathetic to the city or the general cast of characters. It's not clear if Keepers have extended lives and nothing is ever said about the women becoming immortal or long lived to match their partner's lifecycle, but at least with the vampire boyfriend there is a chance.

Best part - the really tall leprechaun with the "amazingly pretty" gnome girlfriend!

Keeper of the Night Review
A light romance within a deep paranormal world.

Series: Yes, The Keepers: LA 1
Characters: Rhiannon and Brodie
Setting: Modern day, Hollywood California
Sexual Themes: Yes

Recommendation: The romance was pretty instant, the characters were relatively single dimensional and the negativity portrayed about Hollywood and its inhabitants was pretty harsh and stereotypical. Overall, I enjoyed the read, moved past the quirks it had that annoyed me and just enjoyed the fluffy read, if you can do the same then I have no problem suggesting you give it a try.

The Keeper Review
** spoiler alert ** Enjoyable even if predictable.

Series: Yes, book 1 of The Keepers Trilogy
Characters: Fiona & Jagger
Setting: Modern day, New Orleans
Sexual Themes: Yes

Recommendation: If you're reading it for enjoyment and not looking too deeply below the surface you'll be able to enjoy the book and the creative world they live in. If you're looking for a vampire novel with a deep history and a deeply character driven story arc, then this may be one you'll want to bypass.

Young musician Rhiannon Gryffald has a calling, she is a "Keeper". When her father becomes part of the otherworld council along with his two brothers, Rhiannon and her two cousins must step in to keep humans safe from rogue vampires, werewolves, shape shifters, elves, etc... With bodies turning up around a new play called Vampire Rampage drained of blood, elven cop Brodie McKay has his hands full without dealing with an untried keeper: Rhiannon. But young as Rhiannon is, she knows what she's doing and the two partner up to end the murder spree. But being together draws the two into a romance that has been forbidden. So very, very good...I need the next in this series to see how the other two cousins are working out!

I found out about this book because of a giveaway of the third book on goodreads, and it sounded very interesting, so I picked it up. I liked having two stories in one, but I was really confused on why it started in Los Angeles, and the second story was in New Orleans. I also thought they were short, really good and well-written, but short. Overall I loved the books, once again Graham has done a wonderful job! These books never got slow and wouldn't let me put it down for anything! I loved every minute of it and am really excited to read the next books!

In Graham’s Nocturne romance novels, new keeper Rhianon has her peace keeping duties cut out for her in Hollywood where it’s difficult to tell the difference between the actors and the supernatural beings. When a string of murders occur that bear the hallmarks of vampire killings, she must confront her greatest challenge. Teaming with detective Brodie McKay, she heads to Laurel Canyon—the epicenter of human and supernatural relations where she will do her best to maintain balance between both worlds.

As always, Graham is an incredible storyteller!

This book is a collection of two of Ms. Graham's Keeper Novellas. I loved them both.
Both featured a set of 3 keepers, in both Novellas, the keepers are sisters. The stories are
fast and very exciting. I am enjoying this series very much.
