An enthralling eNovella that combines time-travel, the Scottish Highlands, and a touch of Norse mythology—linking the Daughter of the Glens series with the Warriors series spin-off.
When Jeanne MacGhie had nowhere to turn, Eymer Horvesson stepped in with an offer of marriage. He asked for only one favor in return…and now that he’s dead, Jeanne will stop at nothing to keep

I fell in love with Melissa Mayhue about two years ago when I was on what I like to refer to as 'the great Fae search'. Coming off Karen Marie Moning's Highlander series I was in a frenzy looking for more Fae, more Scottish hunks, and more time travel. Mayhue's Daughter's of the Glen series had everything I was looking for a more. Her writing style can be described as nothing less than magical, so when I saw an opportunity to check out her e-book exclusive Warrior's Last Gift I *squeed* with joy ...more

Not bad but not as good as others in the series. Too short to be truly enjoyable and the "hero" was a jerk for most of it.

Great short, Eric MacNicol , Jean and Emyer. Jean and Eric have an on going relationship until Jeanne asks Eric to commit tot her and marry her. Denied by. Eric and in a family way Emyer steps up to protect Jeanne and Mary her.

Eymer's death in battle leads to Jeanne and. Eric being thrown back together. Good romance quick read!

It's a short novella, but it's packed with emotion. This is the story that we never knew until this "short" - the story that was hinted at, but never really told... about Jeanne, the kitchen maid and Eric, the captain of the guard. There were hints that Jeanne and Eric had been intimate, but Jeanne married Eymer - something never quite explained. This story explains it.

In book 1, we know that Eymer was killed accompanying Danielle to free Malcolm from his evil half-brother and his evi

Although this is a short novella, its a great read. I like the idea behind the story of always having a second chance. I also love the story and history between the two characters. The men of this clan are nothing but honourable and its proven by Eymer’s offer and his last wish. The story was a great romantic read that lets us unravel the history between the two characters and fall in love with them multiple times. The adventure that happens in the novella is also very interesting as well as the ...more

Since I re-discovered Melissa Mayhue’s books above a month ago, I have been slowly but steadily working my way through her Daughters of the Glen series. However, when I was browsing Edelweiss not long ago, I saw that she had a second series out, again with Highlanders and I was all over it. Warrior’s Last Gift is the bridging book between the first and second books in the series, and while short (only about 70 pages), I felt that she was able to develop the chara

Warriors Last Gift is a very entertaining novella. The storyline is enjoyable, the characters likeable and the writing good but something was missing for me.

I know that novellas are short but this one seemed shorter than normal, it seemed to be over very quickly and I would have liked a little more.

All in all Warriors’ Last Gift is an entertaining read but it was to short and failed to engage me.

The publisher provided me with a free copy of this book in exc

Even though I love everything by Melissa Mayhue, I was dead set against reading this novella. Two dollars for seventy-five pages is outrageous. But then I bought Warrior Untamed and realized I had no idea who either of the people mentioned on the back cover were (I was expecting a story about Patrick), so obviously I knew I had to read the little novella in order to meet one or both of the characters. WHAT A GREAT STORY. As far as character development and storyline goes, Mayhue does not disappo ...more

Jeanne MacGhie marries Eymer Horvesson after finding herself pregnant by Captain Eric MacNicol who is all about his service to his laird and not about to marry soon. She doesn't tell him of the baby to force the marriage and instead marries the kind & gay Eymer to cover the pregnancy and give E a family he would never have. The baby is stillborn early and Eymer dies after 1-1/2 years of marriage. She promised to give Eymer a proper Viking burial and he requested Eric accompany her. They reki ...more

Melissa totally packed a punch of emotions in this novella. The characters were so believable you felt as if you were right there along with them on their journey.

It amazes me that the two of them even made it through alive :0)
From loosing half their supplies, to the cliff dangling, and the little boat breaking, truly a test in their well hidden feeling for each other.
Yet in the it seems Eymer knew best!

A wonderful short story that whisks you away to historic Scotland with a warrior that will win your heart. It has love, adventure and a touch of heartache that will keep your senses alive. Worth the read!

Thoroughly enjoyed this heart warming romance. Eric and Jeanne both as stubborn as each other, it finally takes the dying wish of another to finally bring them together. Gave four stars only because it was a short story.

Melissa Mayhue lives in Colorado, in the shadow of the beautiful Rocky Mountains, with her family, two insanely spoiled dogs, one domineering cat, a turtle with an attitude, and way too many fish in their aquarium. If any one thing is obvious about the books I like best, it's that I love my Happy Ever After endings!!
