National Geographic Kids does it again with another solid book! The pictures are absolutely incredible in this book and the text is broken down into boxes, such as the Explorer’s Corner, making the valuable information easy to read. Parents will want to check this out to discuss the topic of financial literacy with their children. Once kids are shown this book, kids won’t mind reading it on their own since it is just so much fun to browse. Their curiosity will be sparked when they read fun facts ...more

Explanation: This book is great for a math lesson for intermediate grades. It has a lot of photos, captions, and interesting facts. With this book you can discuss how important it is to save money and have a budget.

Rationale: I chose this book because the different headings in the book got my attention. For example: price comparisons, the life of money, and coin collector’s paradise. In the price comparison section the students can compare prices now to what they use to b

This was a fun read with a lot of facts about money. The book talked about early money, the money of different countries, how to save money, how to budget your money and much more. I really liked the picture of the $100 bill and all the anti counterfeit measures. There are a lot of interesting facts and of course, great pictures.

Will this find a big audience? Not sure? Are a lot of kids interested in reading about money? We'll see.

I'm becoming rather disappointed in this series from National Geographic. It is very shallow and basic information, even for the age level it is meant for, perhaps grades 4-6. The photos are of course well done. But there just is not enough information, and not all the information is presented with the idea that the audience has no background in the subject. The two stars is mostly for the photography and some of the information being presented properly.

Loved this book because the history of money was relegated to a timeline and two pages. After that, the discussion moved on to several modern topics, like Australia's plastic money, spotting counterfeit money, and price comparisons. Kids will love the layout, although the array of info may be overwhelming.

A decent collection of money facts, but parts felt patronizing and others incomplete. I especially found it odd that while they pointed out small details on foreign bills, they did not comment at all on the people presented on them.
