Great little book with a variety of quotes, all commentary on London. But I wish I wouldn't have spent ten pounds on it. It's almost one of those books you sit down with in the library for an afternoon, and then put back on the shelf, or something to get as a gift for your acquaintance to put on their coffee table. I can tell a British author put it together, with the quirky perspectives-- lots of Dickens and Hawthorne. A fast read with a lovely dust jacket design.

What you would expect really, hit and miss. Some great quotes, some filler, and some nice tit bits of trivia. If you love London you'll enjoy, but borrow don't buy unless you can get it for a couple of quid.
Truth be told, give me a week with Google and Wikipedia and I could do equally as well.

This book of quotations about London is fine for what it is, but it isn't much. Good toilet reading, but it does not reward sustained attention.
