I think this book might have been designed for absolute novices to the Civil War. It doesn't go into any detail about the battle and uses only a single map for each of the three days. At times, it seems more like a collection of magazine articles than a coherent book; for example, the "Road to Gettysburg" section includes a six page overview of the events leading up to the war, the entire secession crisis, and the first two years of the war.
