This is a well written clean What if where the Matlocks befriend the Gardiners and Lizzy is not in the least bit thought improper. It is told from both Lizzy & Darcy's perspective.

You can read it at
J. W. Garrett

This was a delightful story where Mr. Gardiner saved Lord Fitzwilliam, Earl of Matlock from being swindled in a scheme by Lord Murdock. The Fitzwilliam family was so grateful that they decided to help welcome the Gardiners into society. In the Regency time, this was a risky venture as Gardiner made his money through trade. For some in the ton, the stench of trade would be more than they could accept, even with the support of the Earl of Matlock.
