What is unfortunate about this book is that it just sets people up to be the expat that everyone hates: convinced that their own culture is best, awed by the supposed backwards nature of the host country, and disgusted by the lack of "civilization". The book was terrible. Chunks were repeated form one section to another. There was no mention of the positives of living in Angola (unspoilt beaches, learning a new and beautiful language, easy access to wildlife, cheap lobster and fabulous seafood) ...more
