This book is like reading a movie from the same period of time 1929, after the crash. Where once rich people walk about desperately poor but "rich in their haughty manners." Of course they all circle around the one person who actually is rich... and he gets killed. He is killed during the dark time, which was not uncommon during that period... as electricity was a new thing for many smaller towns.
