Julia Dweck’s “Pie-Rits: A Pirate Adventure” is a children's book on baked goods going out on the seven seasons in search of their lost treasure. This book is published exclusively in e-book format, which means it might not be available in your local bookstores, but that doesn't mean that it lacks the same professional quality. Julie Dweck made sure to get a good quality edit on this work and a great illustrator to go along with her written words. The artwork on every page of this book is ...more

"Pie-Rits" by Julia Dweck is a very cleverly conceived and well executed tongue-in-cheek poem in which the character, both good and "bad" are all pastries of some sort. The damsel in distress, for lack of a better term, is Sweet Cherry, a cupcake, admired by all the other pastries. In fact, it appears she may be the only female pastry in the story! A French Bread named Pierre, and his short, flaky friend, Victor the crescent roll, tell her about their adventures on the high seas, so she goes ...more

Pie-Rits by Julia Dweck is a scrumptious adventure on the high sea.

"Cherry Cupcake has one tiny wish. She dreams of being rescued by a prince right off her dish." One day, to her delight, a charming French bread named Pierre sweeps her off her feet. Pierre tells Cherry that he is on a quest to recover stolen dough from the evil Pie-Rits. Cherry has never sailed on a ship before and excitedly accepts Pierre's invitation to join him and his friend Victor, the crescent roll. The group quickly

Cherry Cupcake has always wished to be rescued by a prince. She meets Pierre a young French bread and his buddy Victor the crescent roll who have sailed the seas. She is impressed by them and goes with them on their sailing adventure to catch the Pie-Rits who have stolen the dough.

This is a charming and fun-filled story for all children as the adventure unfolds. The rhyming in this book is entertaining and very clever. Their journey is fun filled and daring with wonderful characters that are

If you weren't hungry when you start this book you will be when you end this book is super sweet!!! I love how Julia brought Pie's to a new level for children and made this book so much fun to read. I was given a e-copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This book combines two of my sons favorite things, sweet treats and pirates. My 5 year old loved this book. It kept his attention from beginning to end, which is hard with some books due to his adhd and autistic tendencies. We shared many laughs during this book. The book has great rhyming schemes, humor, and amazing illustrations. I see us enjoying this book over and over. Anything that gets my son involved with the story and

What a clever idea. I'd never associated pirates with pies, but now that I've seen it ... it's obvious!

This is a nice story about some tasty treats and their pirate adventure. The characters in the illustrations are great, and I found myself looking at them over and over as I read. They're bright and colorful and look fantastic on a iPad.

Recommended for kids under 7 who are attracted to tasty food (that'd be all kids wouldn't it).

A colourful children’s book, told in rhyme and with good humour, with some great illustrations that are eye catching and some wonderful imaginative characters that will appeal to children. Pie-Rits is ideal for early readers and will be a story that young children will want read to them again and again.

This is one of the few books of Julia's that I can rate because I read and loved it before I did any editing. I had more fun reading this than a kid licking frosting from a cupcake. What a fun adventure, both sweet and tart. There were parts where I wanted to cheer Cherry for stepping up to the plate--make that the butter plate.

Another hit for Ms. Dweck because she has a magical way of writing for kids and also a fun way for adults to get their tongues all twisted in knots. My daughter and i loved this book and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!

I read Pie-Rits to my five year old son this morning. He was really amused at the fact that the characters were all baked goods and he giggled at the rhymes. He says he wants me to read it to him again later. That's definitely makes this book a solid 4 out of 5.
