I learned a crap ton in just the first few chapters. Then I learned so much more by the time I finished. But it was information overload omg.
This was a very well put together textbook, and it was pretty easy to read but was wordy. It did get very clinical and dry as you continued reading but the good news is there were many case studies that were super interesting and kinda helped the info to “click.” There were many visuals to aid the information dumps.
This is a very hefty book, but it has almost everything you could ever need to know in regards to nursing concepts. You will find yourself referencing this throughout nursing school.

Well-organized, easy to read.
I also like that there are many relevant practice q's after each chapter, even if it doesn't give rationales for each right and wrong answer.
Many of them are multiple choice, several select-all-that-apply, and i believe there were a few put-these-in-the-right-order, so it's nice that it gives you a variety of question formats, just like i heard the nclex does - although i'm not sure if those are the only formats the nclex has

Does the job as a nursing textbook, but lots of ethnocentrism and stereotyping when it comes to cultures, religions and "race". Speaking of which, the whole race = biology thing is debatable; many of us would argue that race is a social construct.

It's important to have competent nurses skill and knowledge-wise, but cultural competence is important as well and that part of the book could use some updating.

There are about four chapters of incredibly useful information. Unfortunately, the other 1,036 extremely large and densely written pages are useless for anyone with a minuscule amount of common sense. Basically, as a nurse you will need to know what a plan is, posses critical thinking skills, and not be racist. 1,036 pages of dense, boring common sense stuff like that. The writing style of this book will make lawyers second guess their former monopoly on the ability to make anything overly complicated and unreadable.

this is a good book but also "behind" on certain things. They are not to "real world" in a few instances but a good overall resouurce and less daunting and Suddarth.
I look forward to reading a novel one day!

Redundant. Actually has good perspectives, but nothing amazing, new, or particularly helpful, and written VERY dryly, so it's not even interesting to learn.

The clinical demonstrations aren't terribly helpful, though the rationales are decent.
