This story is a deeply interesting exploration of human loneliness. The main character, Addison seems to be finally living out his dream of peace and quiet. But the story quickly takes an unusual turn and becomes disorienting in a very pleasurable way. I loved the descriptions of his surroundings and the psychological pain which he’s obviously experiencing, something many of us have undoubtedly felt. A great read!

Excellent psychological short

The story centres around a peculiar fellow named Addison.

He just wants to get away from the noise of the outside world, and escape into his inner world, or is it actually the clutter of his inner world that isn’t giving him any peace?

A great insight into the dangers of letting life pass us by if we obsess over the past.

Hello, I’m Robert Rankine. At the time of writing I live and work in London, England. I am a self-published indie author and although I consider myself very much a novice, I am excited to be at the start my life long journey in writing. I am interested in contemporary fiction and write short stories that have a focus on modern life. I set up Thinking Plainly Limited in January 2012 to self-publish ...more
