DNF. Not my type of romance. I don't need to hear H talking about loving and desiring OW. Turns out it's his mate that later dies I guess.

OH MY GODDESS.

I tend to stay away from this genre because I haven't found good ones but I loved Christi Snow's When The Mission Ends romantic-suspense series and the plot of Through the Veil intrigued me so I knew I had to give it a try. I AM SO GLAD I DID.

Long story short: the US has been divided into East States (ES) and West States (WS) by a Veil that no one can cross, except that one day Lori escapes from a lab (in the ES) where she's been experimented (because she has powers) and crosses th

Let's just start this review with a Holey freakin Moley! An absolute MUST READ BOOK! Let me get this stated right off the bat, this is one of those rare 5+++ Star Reviews.

It isn't often that I read a book that demands my attention in such an intense manner but Christi Snow tells the kind of story that captures the imagination and yet makes you think it's a perfectly reasonable possibility.

Through the Veil is book one of Ms. Snow's eight book series, Through

First Thought when Finished: Through The Veil by Christi Snow is one I put off reading because I am not a big fan of "angel" stories. Guys with wings who might be connected to the big guy in the sky, just don't work for me. So I tend to stay away from any story about a guy/gal with wings just in case. These aren't angels (they do have wings but read more like shifters who can't unshift wings) and they were OH SO FRE

Thanks to the publishers and Netgalley for the review copy of this book.

As an avid reader of Christi Snow's books, I knew I wanted to give this one a try, even though I don't read a whole lot of fantasy/paranormal, though that may be changing a bit. The blurb sounded interesting and the cover is just gorgeous.

I wasn't disappointed. Once I started reading it, I was hard pressed to actually put it down. I found the story and the characters engaging and their predicament interesting. I loved how

To escape torture and experimentation, Lori crosses the veil and lands at the feet of a warrior. Markus is drawn to protect the woman without wings even though he doesn’t know what she means to his people in this riveting post apocalyptic fantasy romance.

A steady to fast paced plot keeps readers on the edge of their seats with lots of suspense, excitement and romance. Lori left a world of mistrust and corruption behind but how can she know that Markus won’t betray her as well. The reader can’t h

Romance books and series often follow a certain familiar plot arc, but when done right, it’s still a fabulous read. This book is a great example of that.

This book combined steamy romance featuring a few detailed, but not explicit, sex scenes with a unique paranormal setup and lots of action. The characters are strong and the individual personalities are fully formed and easy to believe.

A lot of romance stories feature insta-love, and I appreciate that this wasn’t present. There was insta-lust, w

This is a book unlike any other I have read. The world that the author created is so unique and creative, keeping the reader wanting more!

For the last 18 years, the East and West have been separated by a thick fog that is called the Veil. No one can penetrate it....until now. Lori is an other and has the power to go through the Veil, which she does. She falls at the feet of Warrior Marcus and thus the story begins.

Marcus and the rest of the Warriors from the Western States live in TREES. They b

I really liked Lori I thought she was a very strong character and very funny. I loved her determination to help her friends. I also thought that Marcus was an amazing Hero with a little bit of a tortured soul he was the perfect mix for me. The story line was perfect with the veil and I loved ho

I have really been sucking lately when it comes to paying attention to details in blurbs. Honest to goddess I had no clue Through the Veil was going to contain PNR aspects. From the blurb, I was assuming either apocalyptic or dystopian but PNR, nope. And may I add how happy because A/D genres are turning into a addiction for me but add PNRs…CHA-CHING! Okay, you do have to have a good story to go with it as well. Lucky me author Christi Snow gave me just what I was looking for.

September saw me go into hospital for 5 days for another knee replacement an so I have had plenty of time to read, especially as I have had trouble sleeping and thus my nights have been a combination of meditation, reading, listening to music, watching Netflix, occasional news reading - especially the night of the Scottish Referendum where I sat and watched TV and read the BBC news online for quite a lot of time, and finally also trying hypnosis. Since all these combined have left me still large ...more

I loved this book. It had an interesting premise to it and I was a least at little curious about the whole setup. Especially the wings. And I was very happy to find out that the ones having wings had nothing to do with angels. Nice new take on that. And while nothing really big happened until the end, so many little things happened throughout and it was a great way to set up the rest of the series and what's most likely to come.

The US has been divided by a giant chasm for years now and completel

I didn’t know this author who seems to have written until now mostly romantic suspense. Through the veil is the first volume very enjoyable from her fantastic-post-apocalyptic series of the same name which should have 8 books.

58 years after a gorge cut in two the United States, Lori is the first person who succeeds to cross to the other side. Endowed with psychic powers, she’s running from the exp

So I accidentally spotted this on NetGalley. And I was like no, it's another angel book, then I see purple wings, then I read the description, then I jumped right in. LOL I seriously liked this one. I really wanna read book two like tomorrow LOL . I wasn't sure what to expect, but that's ok, but she met and topped my expectations with this one. An apocalyptic paranormal romance, that will have everyone cheering and then gasping for air at the end. This is a cool mesh and I loved it. I do believe ...more

4 1/2.... at least. This one snuck up on me....

I received Through the Veil in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Christi Snow has had me as a fan since I read the prologue in Operation Endgame, her first book in the When the Mission Ends series. That was several books ago and even though I knew that I was going to like Through the Veil, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. See, When the Mission Ends is a Contemporary series. It was actually one of the first Contemporary series that I read. T

Christi Snow's delving into new (for her) territory with this series and I'm terribly excited. Winged beings, wicked experiments, and a world on the verge of something more made this an engaging read from beginning to end. I love the division between the ES and the WS -- not just the physical division the veil provided, but the way the two societies moved forward from the point they became divided.

Lori's world is one of corruption and fear. The experiments and torture done to her because of her

Lori’s world is far different than our own. A gorge has divided what we know as the east coast the Midwest. Everything past the Mississippi River has disappeared. A strange veil now divides what it called the East States (ES) and the West States (WS). Each region has experienced genetic mutation in their population. The ES has The Others whose gifts run the gambit from teleportation, shifters, matter manipulators, and well as witches. In the WS, all of their residents have grown beautiful and u

I loved this book and could not put it down! Christi Snow created a fascinating world with an intriguing storyline and characters.

A gorge and veil separates the United States into the WS (Western States) and ES (Eastern States). At the time the veil dropped, anyone over the age of 18 died and their bodies disappeared.

Lori is a member of the ES and she also happens to be an "Other" meaning she has a special power. She has the ability to manipulate matter by touching it. She mistakenly tells her f

4.5 stars, very good story, awesome world building! There is a divide or veil between the WS and ES states. Lori is special, she is an "other" who lives on the ES side, at the beginning of the book she is engaged to a man in the government who will ultimately betray her. Lori is confined for six years in a lab/prison where the ES experiments on "others", she escapes, crosses the veil that no one has crossed for 18 years and meets Marcus who lives in the WS.
Marcus is one hot winged hero, warrior

I always find amazing when Christi Snow releases a new book. I followed her as a blogger for years and it's so great to see her create these books The girl never stops that's for sure. But this time she managed to create a dystopian world with flying humans, how amazing is that? I thought it was a little weird that the first one has purple wings, but apparently they come in all colors.

I liked Lori, but truth is I loved Marcus and the WS side, everyone is really welcome and they have some pretty

WOW!!  What an awesome idea and a very interesting dystopian world the author has created here.  I understand that Through the Veil is the first book in an eight book series.  I’m not going to summarize the plot as the blurb does a wonderful job of setting up the story.

Things That Bothered Me:

I’m going to start here first since these are the reasons I initially struggled with the story.  Honestly, I’m not usually a picky reader, but these things stood out enough for me to stop reading and note

I latched onto this one quickly, a paranormal romance with a series of eight books planned...oh that sounds great! I really enjoy books in a series usually, they allow the reader to get really involved and for plots to get quite complex, and the length allows for so much scope in the writing.
So, what did I think about book one? well, that cover...I hardly ever look at covers but this one caught my eye, and for all the wrong re

My first Christi Snow book, and also her first foray into the paranormal genre. I really liked it; it was a really good twist on the post apocalyptic type genre. Snow has a really easy writing style, I mean it's very smooth and flows well and I enjoyed the third person POV switching focus between Marcus and Lori.

Goodreads Blurb wraps up the summary the best so here is part of that...

This was an incredible book! I Very Highly recommend it to those who love dystopian paranormal romances! This IS Spectacular! The plot was one of the most uniquely written I've ever read and it takes you on an exciting emotional rollercoaster ride till the end. I also completely adored the main group of characters. They were very believable and full of such heart and soul.

I love the world that Christi Snow has created here. It is such an interesting premise to have a world divided by this mysterious veil that most people can not cross and so different from each other because of this divide.
