What do you do when the life you thought was real, isn’t? Behind the scenes, terror and treachery lurk within the shadows, craving the essence of life.

The undead have walked the earth since the dawn of time, standing beside and feeding on the humans, who mistakenly believe that they are at the top of the food chain.

Bound in Blood...

Blissfully ignorant of a race that supersedes their own, the town of Lakeview has ceased their ordinary lives and been left with the functionality of Step-ford wives. In a town where everyone knows everyone else's business, suddenly the main objective is walking with their head down and keeping to themselves.

Left with a neglectful father and a best friend with uncanny intuition, Emily Jameson begins to realize that vampires have taken up residence in Lakeview and they aren't the vegetarian kind. The undead aren’t just snacking though, they have a purpose and Emily’s more entangled in the chaos than she thought possible.

Sebastian, doesn’t do much to help either. He’s cocky, arrogant and more than a little annoying. But there are those brief moments, no matter how few and far between, when he lets his true self shine through. It’s that second persona that Emily can’t help but lust after. Soon, Sebastian becomes the guy, she loves to hate.

Born a slayer, never having been graced with a blood summoning, Emily is left to follow her instincts. Her heritage forces her to accept a blood legacy she is unprepared for. Her ordinary life has been destroyed, opening her eyes to a world she doesn't recognize. She is forced to accept the inevitable in the face of her towns demise.

Emily must delve deep to find the slayer within, the piece of herself kept hidden. Now, all bets are off and she’s out for blood. How will Emily find a way to accept her part in the slayers dynasty, fight a growing attraction to an opinionated slayer, and save her town, without losing herself to a slayer's un-summoning?

If you're like me and loved the Buffy the Vampire Slayer television show that aired on the CW, this book will leave you just as addicted. Emily gives Buffy a run for her money as a kick *** heroine with sarcastic wit. This book is refreshing! The characters are a unique array and I absolutely LOVE that Lucy is blind. I don't think I have ever read a book with a blind character in it & have found that I really enjoyed it. Tyler is such a cutie and Sebastian is drool worthy! Mmmmm... okay, I'm going to stop drooling and start anxiously searching the web to learn the release date for Divinity!

Good reads made me give my own book a rating. I feel silly doing it but because I love it of course gave it five stars. It isn't for snobbish reasons but instead because I love love love this story and hope you will too.

Nicole Rae is a refreshing author, who has taken the literary world by storm, against trails that seem insurmountable. Her passion to never give up, shows through the natural wit that she has given each of her characters. Emily is a spunky, spitfire of a teen with a natural charm. Sebastian is sexy in a bad boy, "I secretly want to jump your bones" kind of way! Tyler is the boy next door, who I couldn't help but love. I can't wait to see how this author grows and what she comes up with next!

Vampires really aren't my typical choice of reading. Clandestine blew through that barrier. I really enjoyed this book. It has a fast moving plot and great characters.

I love that there is a blind character in this one. It was a refressing and pleasant surprise. I've heard that she will be even more involved in Divinity.

I have heard that some people had issues with the editing. I hope the author doesn't get too discouraged by this. For not being able to see, she did a pretty dang good job if you ask me. The editing issues are minor and in no way ditract from the story overall. It's a great read and totally worth your time to check out.

Although this isn't my normal genre, I can't wait for this author to release Divinity. I expect good things from Nicole Rae.

I thought the book was cleverly written and the writer has a way of describing images with such delicate detail it's an easy escape into a fantasy world.

I enjoyed reading Clandestine (Bound in Blood, #1). Nicole Rae did a marvelous job at creating the story and creating this whole new Vampire world. The ending left me wondering what's going to happen next for the characters. I am looking forward to the sequel.

The book starts off really quickly and I was totally absorbed into the storyline. The first few chapters opened up some mysteries and strange things going on in this town. As the story started off with a lot of action, it then slowed down and the story developed at a steady pace. Since the book opened up revealing a lot, it was a little difficult to read "knowing" what was going on in the town, while the protagonist was still trying to decipher everything. I saw most of the plot twists coming pretty early on.

I really enjoyed the character development. I felt like we get to know the main characters pretty well. Although, there is still a lot of mystery to all of them. This being the first book in the series, I'm sure we're going to get to know all the character's back stories in the subsequent books.

This book was a little difficult to read because the Kindle formatting was horrible. Paragraphs weren't indented, which made it difficult to figure out who was speaking at times and made it look like a long run-on paragraph... Some of the words weremeshed together. Some had s paces mid-word. The "quotes weren't always complete or there would be no quotes at all during a speaking part. Or there would be a paragraph

in the middle of a sentence. There were also a few misuses of words. Like "one" instead of "won". Also, some missing commas. I don't think it took away from the storyline - which I loved! It was just really difficult to keep a steady pace while reading since I had to go back a few times to re-read due to the formatting.

Overall, this was a really fun read. I can't wait for the rest of the series and learn about all the other mysteries that are in the Bound in Blood world.

It took me a few to write this review. I needed to sit on it for a few days to have an objective take. To make it short, but sweet-

I enjoyed Clandestine. I thought the plot and characters were amazing. There was a depth to the humor that seems to be natural and is rare for authors to have in spades.

I did struggle with what to rate it, because if I had the choice, I would like to give it 4.75 or 4.8 stars. No book is perfect, which is why I settled with 5 stars. The few issues I had were minor in inconsequential, when balanced with my overall enjoyment of the book. The single reason I wanted to rate it slightly lower than 5 stars is because I would have preferred more comma usage and there were times when I thought sentences should have been split into two. This is purely because the comma's and split sentences would add a clarity to the writing. Occasionally, I found myself confused, but once I imagined a comma here or a sentence split there, it was easy to follow.

In essence, while I would have liked more commas or splitting of some sentences, I really thought this was a great book. I didn't expect to enjoy it, because she's a first time author. I usually wait to read an author until she has at least two books available. This way I know her writing won't be raw. However, I think that the author has amazing potential!

I do recommend this book to others. If you aren't hooked in the first few chapters, keep going. I was immersed once I hit the fourth or fifth chapter and from then on, I didn't want to put it down. I'm anxious to read the next one, because authors are always better the second time around.

I gave this brilliant book 4 stars because there are some editing issues but these would not have been possible for the author to discover as she is blind and relies on a program which reads her work back to her, the usual spell checker and human eyes to find any errors.
The errors I found were all words which when spoken would sound correct but when spelt wrongly were a totally different word to the one intended.

The book itself is amazing, brilliantly written plot, clear and extremely identifiable character's and some wonderful descriptive work.
The plot revolves around the main character noticing that people all around the town of Lakeview are acting very suspiciously and totally unlike themselves usually.
This leads to her and her best friend Lucy discovering that vampires are trying to take over the town.
Emily herself has a big part to play as she soon discovers and the vampire slayers have their work cut out.

I can't wait to read the next book in the series which will be out in December.

This book touches on all the magic and mystery that is very popular in today's reading genre. Emily leads you through her journey, and emotional road to finding out that there's more out there, than meets the eye. We will look forward to continuing her journey of discovering who and what she is, as well as delving into more information on each of the characters that Emily comes across.

This book was different. It was a slow start but it was cute. I would have to say that I was left wanting more. Like Emily should have talked to Bass a lot through mind speak. And they should have had another kiss!!! Seriously!

I feel in love with Bass and Tyler.

I really enjoyed this book! The vamps weren't glamorized, they were "true" vamps. Emily started off as a victim of circumstance, but turned that around by the end of the book:)

I really enjoyed this book and I want to give it 4 stars. My problem was the glaring errors in the book. It could use some major proofreading. Grammar aside, the book captured my attention. The plot pulled me in and wouldn't let go. I enjoyed the characters. Will I read book 2? Probably, but I hope it is edited more because that really distracts the reader from the story.

A great start to an interesting series. Solid, likable characters in a good, believable setting. Clandestine is a light-hearted adventure with not-so-light monsters. No sparkly vampires here, but a more traditional variety. Very much looking forward to the next installment.

It was okay for a cheap book. The ending got a bit more exciting. I don't feel the need to keep reading the series.
