Evelynola Tomlinson, her mother, Lady Weston and their maid travel by carriage to stay with their cousins for the Christmas holiday. However, when their carriage breaks a wheel, they must walk through a blizzard until they see a faint light in the distance. Far from my favorite by this author. I only read it because it was included at the end of another book. Not as good as her other stories.

The worst I can say is underdeveloped. The mystery starts well (though we're immediately dropped in to it with no introduction to the victim our any real scene-setting) then moves too fast to a reasonable but unsatisfactory conclusion. Too many holes and attempts at red-herrings that never really go anywhere. Many of the holes and problems come down to a complete miss on the kind of period details that help make a book.
