About the author

I am a retired law enforcement veteran. A Sonoma County resident for over thirty years, I love to incorporate the dramatic beauty of our area in vivid terms. My experience inspired me to write suspense novels based on the lives of the people behind the badge. I also write and host guest bloggers from law enforcement personnel who use stories to portray the police character accurately. My two suspense/thrillers, By Force or Fear and Intent to Hold won awards in the Public Safety Writers Association Writers Contest in 2012 and 2014. The third book, called With Malice Aforethought is in progress.

An engrossing novel that begins with a deputy sheriff who finds herself in a series of situations, any one of which would be daunting. First, she is forced to shoot and kill a man who threatened another deputy. Unrelated to this, she is then awarded the detective position for which she applied, and shortly after this, her husband is killed in a hit-and-run car accident. On top of everything else, she finds she is walking a fine line between her job, the attentions of a local judge, and the discriminatory views of some superiors. She feels lucky to have the support of her partner, a friend with whom she worked in the past. Woven within is the great local color of northern California, its law enforcement challenges, shady characters, high-speed chases, and several murders. It is a great read!
