AND NOW IS THE TIME OF YEAR I FLOAT OLD CHRISTMAS REVIEWS TO COUNTDOWN TO BING BONG BING BONG!!!

THIS BOOK!!!

in the words of the author(s)

where have you been all my life??

this book is just insane amounts of fun. the premise is very simple: danny is a greedy little boy who learns an important lesson about why we don't try to test the limits of santa's generosity. because santa has tricks up his sleeve, and ways to make naughty boys into nice boys for next year's reckoning.

santa leaves danny a single present - a giant dinosaur egg.

which hatches.

and the dinosaur goes nuts, eating everything in sight - the tree, the decorations, danny's family…

also santa, which seems like an oversight on santa's part.

and this makes danny sad.

which makes the dinosaur sad

With the feeling of guilt
In the dinosaur's gut,
Its brain brewed a plan
involving its butt.
It knew there was only one thing it could do:
To put Christmas right, it needed to…

amazing.

please forgive those squiggly lines - i still haven't learned how to photograph off of a NOOK properly. the camera sees things invisible to the naked eye.

but so back to the poo

 photo DSC02215_zpse709ca41.jpg

 photo DSC02216_zpse56793b8.jpg

and it's a christmas miracle.

christmas is restored, just with a little more poo than anticipated on the decorations and whatnot.

and everyone learns a lesson.

i love this book so much.

and i MUST read the other books in the series, because one can never have too many books about poo.

also - behold - there is a GAME attached to this book that you can play for FREE and it has just eaten up a lot of my time. i am very bad at it, but it is FUN.

now it's your turn to fall into a timesuck:

I was looking for a funny Christmas book to listen to and came across this one and thought, haha, why not. A dinosaur that poops Christmas. That’s gotta be funny, right? Yeah, it is, it’s hysterically funny. Had me roaring with laughter.

What’s not to love when it’s a 10 minute rhyming, Christmas poo story 💩🤣

So, not only silly fun for the littlies, but for adults too (well, most likely not all)

This is by far one of the funniest, cutest and prettiest Christmas books I own. I absolutely loved it although it's a children's book. If you have children you should definitely read this one to them. It's hilarious!!

I saw this book while looking at the books in Asda. I really wasn't sure what to expect for the story but I stood and it read while waiting for my mum and sister to finish shopping.

Tom and Dougie have proved that not only can they write awesome songs, but they can use their skill to write a great children's novel. It was great. It had a few lines per page and great colourful pictures that any child (or adult) would like. The story was really funny and the rhyming is great throughout. This book has a childlike humour but it appeals to people of all ages.

I think that children will learn not to be greedy which is the moral of the story.

I loved it and trust me you'll love it, your kids will love it, you will chuckle and you will pick it up again and again. I will defiantly be buying it for my 5 year old sister for Christmas.

Hopefully the guys will continue to write more stories like this.

My 5-year-old really enjoyed this one and so did I, surprisingly. :) The grossest part is actually a big part of the fun (and we aren't even fans of poop jokes). Who knew?
Will be reading the other book is the series, I guess.

This was gifted to us last year and we only just got around to reading this. My son didn't like this at all. I guess we don't have the potty humour that this is aimed at! Sorry! But this was a miss with us.

A lovely rhyming book that tells the story of a greedy young boy who was never satisfied with his mountains of toys. For that reason Santa placed a dinosaur egg under the Christmas tree to teach him a lesson. The egg hatched and out popped a dinosaur. The dinosaur ate everything in sight including poor old mum and dad! With the dinosaur feeling ever so guilty for eating everything and everyone he could only do one thing... Hence the title.

The title and front cover alone had my class of Nursery children laughing so I knew this would be a hit. The illustrations are beautiful and the underlying moral of not being greedy was a fantastic start to our Christmas theme. This is perfect for reading aloud to any age group including adults!

If you're interested in this book there are a few resources on the TES website which are free to download. They include a selection of activity worksheets and my favourite which is a game called 'pin the poo on the dinosaur'.

When I found out that two members of one of my favorite bands wrote a children's Chrismtas book, I knew I needed it. Then when I found out it was called the Dinosaur that Pooped Christmas, I was done lol.

It's a very cute and interesting take on teaching a child the true meaning of Christmas. With hilarious dialogue (even a little gross towards the end), this made me giggle like none other. This will definitely be read each Christmas :)

A hilarious book about the importance of being grateful at Christmas …otherwise Santa might bring you something unpleasant that may just ruin Christmas entirely!
This book is really fun and i loved the use of rhyme throughout. I think children would find this book really exciting, especially around Christmas time.
I can't wait to read more of the books in 'the dinosaur that pooped' series.

Read to me aloud by a beautiful person in a beautiful moment that made me love this book even more than I probably would if I read it by myself.
This is a book I will definitely be reading to my kids, as I will tell them about the circumstances in which it was read to me (if I ever have kids, that is).
Thank you so much Rafiki for introducing me to this lovely story!

So, I know I'm an outlier but I thought this book was very gross and even a little grotesque and my 3yo son thought it was disgusting 🤷‍♀️ very explicit diarrhea which really is just too much I think.

Yuck. Santa wants to teach a greedy kid a lesson so he gives him a dinosaur who eats everything and everyone and then poops it all out over several page spreads of brown goo. Just gross.

"Now, reader beware, the next part is scary,
And if you read on you'll need new underweary."

To start off, I'd like to say that I only read this book because I stumbled over it due to the authors, and admittedly was kind of curious about what on earth this was supposed to be. After reading it, I am ... pleasantly surprised.

It was short, on the point, and much funnier than I had anticipated. I'm not usually one for poop or fart jokes, so I didn't expect much, but this was ... more entertaining than it had any right to be. The rhymes are clever, but at the same time very natural and at times ridiculous. What I loved most about it was that it didn't try to be perfect in any way, it just flows naturally and unforced, with a little bit of a mischievous note.

I read it trough the audio book while also going through the ebook at the same time to look at the pictures. The art work is really cute and detailed, and I especially liked it's vibrant and dynamic nature. The audio book itself was great, it was split into two parts: one reading of the book with sound effects and one reading without any effects in the background. I personally liked the second one better, just because I felt like a little bit too much was going on with the sound effects.

The audio book is read by both the authors and I really enjoyed that aspect. It's lighthearted, energetic and takes you into the story with them, which is impressive considering it's only for such a short amount of time.

Adding "The Dinosaur That Pooped Christmas" to our Christmas Book advent was a decision we didn't regret. As fans of Tom Fletcher's imaginative storytelling, my family and I eagerly anticipated diving into this festive tale, and it didn't disappoint.

The book follows Danny and his dinosaur friend as they embark on a hilarious adventure filled with Christmas chaos and, of course, lots of poop. My 6-year-old was in fits of laughter as we read about the dinosaur's mischievous antics and the messes they created along the way.

What sets Tom Fletcher's books apart is their ability to combine humor with heartwarming moments, and "The Dinosaur That Pooped Christmas" is no exception. Amidst the laughter, there are valuable lessons about friendship, teamwork, and the true meaning of Christmas.

Making this book a part of our Christmas Book advent added an extra layer of excitement to the holiday season. It became a cherished tradition, eagerly anticipated by both my child and me. And while we enjoyed many books during our advent, "The Dinosaur That Pooped Christmas" held a special place in our hearts.

Overall, "The Dinosaur That Pooped Christmas" is a delightful read for the festive season, perfect for families who enjoy laughter, silliness, and a sprinkle of holiday magic. Highly recommended for fans of Tom Fletcher's books and anyone looking to add some festive fun to their Christmas celebrations.

Look, I know that kids' humor tends to be more... scatological... than adults', but does this book need to exist? I find myself conflicted on the answer to that question. On the one hand, Danny is a horrible little boy, so greedy for presents that Santa gives him a dinosaur, which in turn eats Danny's entire family, including the cat, the dog, grandma and her knitting, and Danny's parents, and then Danny's whole house. Upon surveying the hellscape his greed hath wrought, Danny experiences a change of heart, comprehending the true meaning of Christmas. So, yay? It's not a spoiler (since it's the title) that the dinosaur then proceeds to poop out whole everything it just ate, like me after eating spicy Indian food. Then, as proper penance, Christmas must then be washed before enjoyed. A horrifying tale, but, on the other hand, also quite hilarious, and I found myself laughing and having to share it with other adults. So, indeed, this book SHOULD exist. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that Tom Fletcher has made a whole career out of dinosaurs pooping out various things, from planets to the more abstract concept of pooping the past. Good for him!

I've talked about this series in a previous blog post so I won't spend long on this. Needless to say that this bouncy rhyming naughtiness brings the house down every year and is the first my autistic daughter pulls from the box. Ask her to pick her favourite line and she'll happily repeat it all day long:
'And last but not least but never forgotten,
Granny plopped out of the dinosaur's bottom.'

As discussed in my toilet humour post, this story isn't for everyone (my mum included). However, if you let yourself go and also let the fact that parts of the story have very poor rhyme go, this raucous romp of a Christmas story will have you rolling with laughter. It certainly pays not to be greedy...

Overall - A Big Fat 5

Brilliant, just brilliant. What child is not going to love a book about a dinosaur and poop?!
The rhyming pattern is great, good for spotting rhyming words. Flows so well, makes it a joy to read aloud.
One predictable part giving children the opportunity to join in and shout POOP as loud as they can, which is just hilarious when reading it in school.
Illustrations are just wonderfully done, so lovely to look at. Dinosaur looks so happy and friendly.
Overall, just a fantastic book. Great to read aloud especially. I LOVE it!

I'll give this book 5 stars because there's no denying that it's a book that no one ever expected to see as a Christmas title. (A bit like someone writing a book called 'The Day Santa Got Diarrhoea')

Obviously this book will be North Pole/South Pole polarising. People will either love or hate it. And potentially that's where the appeal lies, you can't un-see what happens in this book. Thankfully it doesn't come in a scratch n sniff edition!

The writers are clever/funny and I doubt the original creators of 'There's Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly' ever imagined they'd spawn a pile of paleo poo under the messed up mistletoe...

A big rhyming hit ! This Christmas Danny is making a list for Santa of Way more toys than anyone could need or want. So, Santa leaves a Dinosaur Egg. The illustrations are delightful. The dinosaur that emerges from the egg and eats everything and everyone in sight. Danny has a valuable Christmas lesson and then the (very gross) solution to the problem comes out. I recommend that you preview this book before reading it aloud to children. Just be sure it would be appropriate in your family setting. Enjoy.

Danny wants a lot for Christmas, but what he ends up getting is a dinosaur and not just any dinosaur.. a very hungry dinosaur. He eats up all of Christmas, and we all know what goes in at some point must come out. so read this book to find out exactly what happens.

This book is hilarious and full of laughs.

This book would be great in any classroom, but mainly just a funny story around Christmas.
