Bamboo Wedding
Carey listened in anguish to Pearl's words. Brad's secretary had obviously been nursing a smoldering hate ever since she'd heard of their marriage. But these were not just the poisonous ramblings of a jealous woman. — No. So much of what Pearl said added up. Everything slotted into place now. — Carey had believed a deep love was growing between herself and Brad. Now she knew she was just a pawn in a struggle for power!

I can only think that the author wrote this while in the grip of a debilitating, disorienting, feverish flu. The alternative would be that she is a raging racist who, to add insult to injury, does not know how to write.
Quite disappointed and disgusted by this offering from the same author who brought me the delightfully escapist, romantic jaunt of Nurse at Noongwalla.

i read a lot of vintage harlequins. each requires suspension of disbelief. some more so, some less but never ever have i encountered this level of nonsense. even if i could get past the immediate marriage of strangers, the inexplicable desirability of an insipid main character and the ridiculously drawn out misunderstandings, i fall at having to digest the staggering quantity of asian stereotyping in this book.
it really is, in a perverse way, an accomplishment. Bamboo Wedding bamboozled me in the end as I'm the sucker that actually finished it.

Dull heroine (26) meets dull hero (30s) in Taiwan and they get married. She lets the lies of the OW (his secretary) almost ruin their marriage and he thinks she loves another. It has a 'mystery', but it feels seedy.

I couldn't agree more with all the other reviewers, and will add this: are we really supposed to believe that this cold fish of a h could get so many guys hot for her? I DON'T THINK SO!
