An attack is coming that may well devastate the rebels and threaten the last human challenge to the Antichrist…“I will let you have your day. Your time is coming, and you will fall.”…and the Tribulation will be without end. HELL will be eternal.
Wow this book was definitely better than the first book. There was so much crazy yet interesting stuff going on. I don't actually think the way his author has imagined the End Times is the way it actually will turn out, but it's still interesting to read about. There were a few things that bugged me. Why is Lindsay's husband called Eric in this book & Lee in the first book? At first I thought maybe this was a new guy, that Lee had died because he did get hurt toward the end of Pray. But I racked my brain & definitely didn't remember him actually dying & so for a good part of Hell, I kept expecting the backstory to catch up on this new guy Eric & what happened to Lee. But I finally realized that Lindsay's husband just had a new name. And then, Rick starts talking about the time when he & Blanche heard Samouel's first speech while they were in the diner (in the first book) & how they met Lindsay & Eric, and I thought well, alright then! So that was bizarre.
Another thing that I thought was a little strange was how everyone keeps freaking out about their friends & loved ones dying & "never seeing them again". I know that of course, no matter what, death can be a scary thing to face down, but here's the thing: they know they're going to see each other again! They're Christians! Furthermore, they're in the Tribulation- they know it only lasts 7 years & they're in the middle of it. That means not only will they see them again, but they only have 3 1/2 years until it happens. I know that I'd still be sad if I was one of them & lost someone, but seriously, I'd be happy that they were finally in Heaven away from all that awfulness & it wouldn't be long before I would see them again. It's not like now, where if someone I love dies, I could have another 50 years before I see them again in Heaven- that's a long time! So, I don't know, I just felt like maybe some perspective would've been helpful.
I liked this book a lot more than the first, and the language wasn't as bad in this one. There is still cussing (why after 3 1/2 years are the Christians still cussing I don't know...), but at least there was no GD & F words. I still don't think it's necessary (especially for the Christians to talk the same way the unbelievers talk) but it was no where near as explicit as the first book.
I'm looking forward to see how the author is going to wrap this trilogy up.
This book was filled with the heart break, when it came to facing the end of character(s) we have grown to adore. (yes, I am talking about “the Good guys”) My only issue I had was not being able to find this in an Audiable format. Looking forward to #3.
As the sequel to Pray by John Prescott, Hell delivers just as well, if not better. There is more adventure in this one, if that’s even possible, since the first book was excellent and action-packed.
Hell is climactic the entire book. It starts off with news broadcasts about the three years after nuclear bombs ransacked the earth at the end of Pray. Eventually, the core group makes their way to Jerusalem to do what God has planned for them. A lot of people die in this book, as Samouel (the Antichrist) issues forth an assortment of evil creatures from hell to kill innocent individuals on earth in order to get the rest of the human race to oblige to him as God.
Within the darkness of hell on earth, there are some positive parts, like when nonbelievers become believers, how the core group is able to carry on with doing God’s will for them, and the spiritual connection and care shared amongst the believers. The core group remains optimistic, because they know God will look after them because they believe in Him and as long as they are performing according to His will.
Hell is full of vibrant descriptions, is fast-paced and full of action, and has an edge that kept me intrigued until the very end. I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in being entertained by the Book of Revelations from a creative perspective, as well as readers of dark fantasy, paranormal, horror, and action/adventure. Prescott is one hell of an author (pun intended)!
I enjoyed this book as much as the first. However, when did Lee become Eric??? Did I miss something? Was it changed after I got my copy? Anyway, the story is great! I cannot wait for the next one!
loved both books. when is the third one coming out? I had it preordered on Amazon, but they pulled it at the last min. I can not find any info on it. Anyone know?
