Who knew she'd have to sail across two centuries to find it?

Great history and love story

I truly enjoyed the story of Zane, Emilie and Andrew. All three were wonderful rich characters. The time travel was wonderfully told. They all adjusted to that aspect as well as you could expect. The future was handled so neatly it about drive Andrew crazy.

The love of history made Emilie the perfect candidate to travel back to the revolutionary war era. The author really wove in some great moments to make it even more alive. It was a great read. I want to read th

A Potpourri of Emotions

This is undoubtedly one of the finest and most unusual Time Travel books I have ever read. Barbara Bretton kept the language and mores of the people living over two hundred years ago, and did it with ease. What makes it so unusual is that although it is a Time Travel book, it also combines the genres of Historical Fiction (the Revolutionary War),and Romance. Further, the author imbued the characters with such detail that her exquisitely penetrating studies allo

There could be a continuation to this book with a character from the past that goes to the present...

Found this book a little boring, but it kept me interested enough to at least finish it. The two main characters, Emily and Zane Grey (yes, from the western author) had been divorced 5 years when Zane's grandmother dies and leaves him the family estate, which he promptly sells. Zane is bitter and not interested in history or his heritage. He takes an old uniform to Emily to "evaluate"

4 Stars. This story had love, time-travel and historical content. The beginning was enjoyable, then the story slowed a little, largely due to the 'telling' of parts of history. However, the story picked up again and continued to be exciting and interesting. I was somewhat disappointed with the ending but as the novel is part of a series, I wouldn't hesitate to read more from this author.

Maybe it was my mood, I'm not sure. I just could never get an attachment to this story!!!! If the author reads this I apologize!!! Just not my cup of tea!!!!

This was a wonderful story. The first book I've read in a while that left me in tears and saying, "Wow. Just Wow." Love the H and h, the story had so many threads that the author skillfully connected at the end, and I loved the history. I didn't know much about the Revolutionary War period, so the details kept my attention - and she skillfully wove them into the plot. Normally I don't enjoy time travel books, but this one was realistically done (lol for a concept that is impossible). Will defini ...more

Worth the trip

I thoroughly enjoyed 'Somewhere In Time: The Crosse Harbor Time Travel Trilogy Book 1. This is a fast paced book that I was able to finish in one sitting. I'm looking forward to reading book 2 starting tomorrow.

Got this as a free download from Amazon sometime back. It was somewhat enjoyable. Emilie and Zane - exes who while trying to figure out what they mean to each other somehow get picked-up up in a time storm and end up in the late 1770's. Emilie who is a historian of sorts is somewhat loving it especially when she meets her hero Andrew McVie but her exhubby is not too thrilled- he was supposed to be on his way to Tahiti- preferably with Emilie not stuck in backwoods New Jersey with no modern conve ...more

I read this book as a recommendation on a readers group forum. I was looking for a book I read in about 1998 or 1999 about a time travel romance. In the book I read, the woman fell through a wall or closet in the house & ended in colonial times where she falls in love and has to decide between two worlds. This wasn’t that book.
This is a very quick and light read and I enjoyed it but I didn’t love it. First of all, I enjoy historicals for the history and much of that was fictional in th

A wonderful time travel romance!
Married and divorced a few years later, Zane and Em still have that powerful connection. Unfortunately they want different things in life...hence why Em left Zane. After Zane’s grandmother dies he finds himself still on that same road, always looking for that death defying thrill, never staying in the same place long. Once business is concluded Zane makes one stop before heading to Tahiti, he calls on Em and fate steps in. They find themselves on the most excitin

This is the first time I read Barbara Bretton and I definitely enjoyed it. She has blended romance and time travel with a touch of historical fiction to create an entertaining story. I just couldn't stop reading because I was eager to find out how it will end. I guarantee you'll find the same pleasure from reading this book..
I hate it when authors make characters do things that do not make sense just to move the plot in the way they want. The ending is a perfect example of this! I had to stop reading for a while I was so mad/annoyed!

Absolutely loved this book

This is a must read. I loved it from the first few pages. Taking place in my home state of New Jersey was an added bonus. The history and romance were a perfect blend.

Time Travel

This stories premise was interesting, but I found the characters to be a little flat. Adding in more historical facts within the fictional events would have led me to believe in the story more. Over all it’s well written.
This book was awful, full stop. I regret reading it so much. The worst part is that my wife read it out loud to me over a roadtrip, so Kat had to suffer through the inane protagonists with me. I'm sorry, my love.

An excellent time travel romance that moves from modern times to the Revolutunary War period. Who knew a dark cloud could sweep a hot air balloon into the past!?

This story did not engage me the way the authors other books have. I felt the story dragged a bit in places and I didn't find the main characters to be that sympathetic.

It was an interesting take on time travel and I will continue with the series as sometimes I find that the first book in a series can be a bit slow and then the series gets better after that. I am hoping that is the case with this series.

I enjoyed this book up to a point. Don't like loose ends and cliffhangers....So if you want a light, fun read this is entertaining enough, but be prepared for not getting some answers and hoping they are in the second book if you choose to go on.

This is the first book I've read from Barbara Bretton. I like to try new authors, however I'm glad I got this one for free.

Historian Emilie Crosse specializes in the Revolutionary War era, and she is shocked when her ex-husband, Zane, shows up on her doorstep with a Revolutionary War uniform for appraisal. It is a family heirloom, but he doesn't care about his ancestors after losing his last living relative, his grandmother. He thinks getting rid of the uniform will allow him to move on with hi

After a passionate beginning, the consequent marriage of Emilie Crosse and Zane Grey Rutledge eventually falls apart and, like countless others ends in divorce. Physical attraction and passion are seldom enough to sustain a married life of bliss. Outside factors, plans and dreams of the future also play a substantial role. When Zane visits his ex-wife Emilie passions of the past get the upper hand and end in a sexual tryst. The next morning reality takes over and they realize that the situation ...more

I'm torn between 3 and 4 stars. I think, if Goodreads allow a pointt five on the rating scale, this will get a 3.5 stars, perhaps. After reading most of Bretton's free books that is available on iBooks and Kindel. I start to understand her writing style. However, each of Bretton's work does have some twists and turns that is not expected but yet you can tell the ending of the story when you first started. At first, i thought this book will go on to the mystery of the ancient blue dress, but it t ...more

Emilie and Zane go back in time to find each other.
Easy to read romance novel.
For all the new authors, there are some funny bloopers in this book, here are these missed edits.
Goes to show that even experianced authors like Barbara Bretton can make the simplest of mistakes.

Emilie and her ex-husband, Zane, are plummeted back in time via a hot air balloon from 1992 to 1777. She's a Revolutionary War buff, so enjoys the challenge of being there. Zane, on the other hand, is the ultimate modern-day alpha male and cannot live without his "toys," and plots to "get back." They become involved with a patriotic spy ring, headed up bu Emilie's childhood hero, Andrew McVie, who saves George Washington from an assassination plot.

The story was plodding in spots and

Good read

This is a good book about a guy named Zane who enjoyed seeing the world. He had no issues when it came to money. His parents died when he was young and he stayed with his grandmother Sara Jane. When his grandmother passed away he took an old militia uniform to Emilee (his x-wife), although it had been 5 years since their divorce, they were still attracted to each other. Anyway, I will skip to the next day when Zane got on a balloon with Emilee, and while they were in the air the we

I wanted to love this book since I usually love time travel stories. However, I was expecting something in the vein of the Outlander series, which are well researched, well thought out, and extremely well written. This is not that. As a history enthusiast, I had hoped that there would be more history than there was. I thought the characters and the writing lacked depth, but perhaps I simply expected more than this book was ever intended to be. I finished the book, and am currently reading the ne ...more
