Rate this book
FBI Special Agent Rowan Milani doesn't expect his life to be turned upside down when he arrives in Sioux Falls, South Dakota for an Anti-Terrorism Task Force operation. But the clandestine side of his life catches up with him as he circumvents the target on his back one too many times.

Be drawn into Rowan's frightening journey as he encounters a gullible Intelligence Community, the bloodthirsty media and a terror-weary country, all willing to believe the worst about the son of an Iranian immigrant.

Set against the backdrop of an insidious terror plot, Consummate Betrayal is a rich tapestry of intertwining relationships based on unconditional love, sacrificial friendship, and the courage of a fiercely honorable man pursued by relentless evil. Mary has been an avid writer all her life. After graduating from Iowa State University with a B.S. in Animal Science and almost a minor in English, she pursued several careers that included selling hybrid swine breeding stock, professional resume writing, and the airline industry. Along the way she wrote numerous freelance articles, raised two rambunctious sons and showed her National Show Horses and Arabians. In 2008, on an Alaska cruise, relaxing for the first time in decades, she made the decision to pursue the career she’d always dreamed of: writing thrillers.

CONSUMMATE BETRAYAL introduces readers to the world of Rowan Milani, decorated FBI agent and secret, presidential assassin. UNHOLY RETRIBUTION explores the dark side of Rowan’s character and the catastrophic consequences of his choices. A DIFFERENT MAN chronicles Rowan’s determination to change course. TERMINAL REDEMPTION is next in the series and follows Rowan on a globe-hopping journey toward his destiny. THE MAN BEHIND THE shadows finds Rowan’s life on a new trajectory. All of Mary’s books are available in print and digital formats.

Mary shot a pistol for the first time while researching Consummate Betrayal. The experience changed her life. She is the South Dakota State Director for the DC Project, an educational, nonpartisan initiative supporting the Second Amendment on a national and state level. She is passionate about empowering women to defend themselves and you’ll often find her at the shooting range encouraging others as they develop their skills.

Mary lives in the great state of South Dakota with her husband Ernie and Lucy, an intemperate Rat Terrier who runs their household. When she’s not working on the next installment of the Rowan Milani Chronicles, you may see her tearing up the pavement with her black Mustang convertible attempting the fine art of autocross, enjoying a glass of wine with friends or busy with her family.

What a terrifying ride this action thriller takes you on! My heart was pounding from the beginning until the end,I could NOT put this book down!
Rowan Milani is a special black-ops agent of the FBI, working on anti terrorism and with special links to the President. He is an assassin, after his 'day' job. In taking care of a problem he finds someone after him,and ends up wanted by his own government along with Islamic terrorists!!
The terror during some scenes had me holding my breath! We also learn that someone close to Rowan was killed on 9/11, pushing him to kill all who are involved with terrorists.
The pacing of this book is amazing, I just kept on reading, not once losing my attention. Any reader who enjoys an awesome thriller with Special Force warriors will enjoy this exciting book!
I received a copy of this story from Netgalley to which I am thankful to have enjoyed a wild ride!

Rather liked this one, where a secret black ops operator who has been targeting Islamic terrorists become himself a target of a top Terrorist who is working at setting up cells in the US. The terrorist has a number of CIA and FBI agents taking payoffs and spreading false information about the operator and arresting and torturing him for information, but his friend manage to free him and now they have to keep him from both the terrorists and the bent CIA and FBI agents.

This a great debut and a good thriller. Rowan Milani is a decorated FBI Special Agent working on the Anti Terrorism Task Force, that's his day job. that what he tells his team, secretly his an assissin working for the US Government to elimate terrorist, at all cost. When he, his sidekick/parter Chad Cantor, and his distinguished boss, Ralph Johnston head to Sioux Falls for a mission, only to have it backfire and Rowan framed as being a homegrown terrorist. this is a very good thriller to start off a series of novels with, and I enjoyed the book thoroughly.

I saw this book at my local Lewis store and it said it was written by a local author, so I had to pick it up. Mostly, I was just curious about how the author did the setting since I also live in Sioux Falls, SD.

I started the book and then was surprised at how hard it was to put down and this isn't the type of book I usually read. I usually read Young Adult novels, but this felt like something totally different and I wondered to myself how much I was missing out by only reading in the Young Adult audience.

The writing is clean and the story is engaging. There was lots of action, which is a must for me, as I like the story to move along. I also fell in love with Rowan more after I heard his back story. I want to know more even more about him.

Fast forward about a year. I was at the SD Festival of Books and saw the author there and found out there was going to be a sequel out. I had always wondered if there would be and since the first one was so good, I'm excited to check out the next one.

Just make sure you clear up your schedule before starting into this book because you won't likely be putting it down again until it's done. It had me hooked and the lack of vacuuming at my house proves it.

Rowan Milani is a FBI agent on a personal mission to wipe out the jihadists responsible for the attacks on the USA. Despite having special secret powers granted by the President, he soon finds himself a target of both the enemy and his own organization. Things start to go bad in a big way.
What I enjoyed most about “Consummate Betrayal” was the excellent pacing of the plot. There was no lag at the 65% mark that most thrillers suffer from. There was no rush to the end. This is a well-structured story that takes the reader on a thrilling ride.
Ms Yungeberg is an excellent writer. Her command of language is of a high standard. She displays a knowledge of the subject matter that demands respect from the reader.
The story rises to a satisfying climax and resolution. Even though there is a second in the series (and I believe a third), the author hasn’t felt the need to deny the reader a proper ending.
“Consummate Betrayal” ranks up there with the best thrillers on the bookshelves. I am looking forward to reading the second in the series.
This book will appeal to a wide range of readers. Highly recommended.

Re-reading this book to get back into the adventure and read book 5 in the series. I am still enjoying the book as though it is the first time through! I have found hidden gems I missed with the first reading. What a great book!

I found it hard to suspend reality and get into this book because I was flabbergasted at the supposed naivety and gullibility of security agents and informants in this story. I was questioning several actions all the way and so this has been a very laboured reading for me. The only reason I continued reading was to write this review.
Rowan Milani is an FBI agent whose heritage is from the east and finds himself being chased by both sides of the law as he has been framed as a terrorist
Wonderful premise but I did not like the execution of this story
