With the circus-esque climate of politics these days, this little trip into the world of make-believe may not be far off the mark afterall. Here we have a Presidential candidate who is twice-divorced and has somewhat of a "playboy" reputation. His campaign manager thinks he needs a better "family" image as election day approaches. The plan is to find a "pretend First Lady" to keep Candidate Michael Reese out of trouble and appealing to the public. Of course, it won't be permanent and the "Lady" will dump him right before the wedding and election day -- afterall, why miss out on all those sympathy votes. Michael Reece looks around the room and chooses his speechwriter, Ashley Kendall, to be his pretend "First Lady." One might question Ashley's mentality at this point . . . even though Candidate Michael is a gorgeous male specimen. I must admit that I found the characters charming and fun with lots of witty conversations. The chemistry between the Presidential-hopeful and his "First Lady" was sizzling. The storyline is predictable. If you can put aside your need for realism, then this is a cute read. Otherwise, don't even go there.
This one might have received 2.5 stars from me if it wasn't for the editing errors throughout. The book is in dire need of a visit by the editing patrol.
Since I'm not American, I have no idea how these presidential elections really work and if this story has been done correctly in this regard. I did love the storyline itself though and enjoyed reading this novel very much. And that's what it is - a novel, fiction and not a biography. It was entertaining, funny and I liked Ashley and Micheal very much. Even though in the end they frustrated me a bit because they should have talked to each other and not presume knowing what the other did and why. However, in the overall I really enjoyed reading this book very much and I will recommend it to my friends.
Completely unbelievable, I mean this would never ever happen, but still it was cute and left you rooting for the 2 characters. I always like a little political intrigue in my stories. Reminds me of the West Wing, which I love!
Not really sure why some have given it such bad rating I found it to be a very good read. Very fun and steamy and was rooting for them the whole time. I'd give it a solid 3.5 stars for sure, but since we can't do half I gave it a 4 as it was closer to 4 than 3 stars for me.
