I made silver and turquoise jewelry for almost a decade, ended up in nursing school, then took a master’s in business. Along the way I worked in construction, as a newspaper editor, a teacher, and somehow found a career working with computers.

As to my other interests, I love the outdoors, especially the Rocky Mountains. I’ve skied since high school, with one broken leg and one torn ACL to show for it. I’ve hiked and camped all my life. I love to travel, though I haven’t done enough of it. I’ve seen a lot of Russia and Mexico, not enough of England. Amsterdam is amazing, and the Romanian Alps are breathtaking. Lake Tahoe is a favorite, and someday I’d like to see Banff.

I loved the first book in the Telepathic Clans series (entitled The Succubus Gift) and I thought I'd have to wait a year or more before I'd get my hands on the second one. So imagine how ecstatic I was when I saw just a few months after I had finished the first one that the second book's release was imminent!

The first book was incredibly intricate with lots of plot points. The poignant points stuck with me, but there were some more subtle parts that I may have forgotten. But not to worry Kingsolver opens with a great refresher forward of what Brenna O'Donnell went through in The Succubus Gift with a sneak peak for what was in store for this installment.

The cover this time around is a unique blend of realism mixed with animated power swirling around. I think I might like this cover more than the first. It definitely portrays the stronger version of Brenna.

Succubus Unleashed picks up immediately where the last one left off. As a result of the events of the last book, Brenna has become far more comfortable and confident in the powers and needs of being a Succubus. Brenna's also being acclimated into her family, and introduced to her very very vast fortunes. Which she uses to take the reader on a lust worthy shopping trip.

Kingsolver has an amazing talent for taking several stories that offshoot into different directions, and pulling them together into one cohesive story where they play on and enhance each other. This time around there's a lot of focus on family politics with questions of inheritance, relationship drama, mysterious kidnapping of Succubi and a huge discovery that completely changes the way that Succubus will live.

While the story still focuses on Brenna, I feel that the other characters get their share of front page time equally. Which is awesome because I pretty much love all the secondary characters just as much, if not more than Brenna. We get glimpses into their personal lives and as well as working together as an unstoppable team. They get into some pretty epic street battles (I kid you not, it's like Street Fighter, fists and balls of energy flying everywhere - it's freaking AWESOME!).

Brenna has changed in leaps and bounds this time around. I love that while she is still a strong and intelligent character, she manages to maintain a certain air of youth but in certain situations she becomes this dead serious all-business woman that isn't to be trifled with - it provided surprising moments for both me and the other characters at times.

Collin - Brenna's now boyfriend is still my absolute favorite! He's strong, supportive and all around adorable. In this part of the story, we even get a sneak peak into some of his relationships, which causes some major tension but also leads him down a new road in his life.

Rebecca - Brenna's best friend, with Brenna's discovery that Succubus gene carriers are prone to intense sexual urges, I feel that Rebecca has definitely grown up. She's taken control of her life and doesn't feel so ashamed any more. It was great to see this, I always wanted Rebecca to be okay with herself and now that she is a bit more she's become confident and this confidence ends up translating to other aspects of her life!

Succubus Unleashed takes a more intimate look at the inner workings of the clans, and especially the role of the Succubus. We're introduced to very old and familiar iconic pagan rituals that are presided over and sealed by a priestess. While Brenna is initiated into all of this, the reader is opened up to this wonderfully enlightened world where women are revered and respected for their sexuality. I loved this so much! Especially in today's world where women's rights are slowly being stripped away and where women are shamed for being confident in their sexual wants and needs - Kingsolver isn't afraid to embrace the fact that it's a part of our nature and that it's totally okay to relish in it. With this in mind, Kingsolver takes her sex scenes up a notch, which one of the lines in the book perfectly describes as "... the most civilized and discreet orgy you'll ever attend." (loc 1948).

But what really blew me away was Kingsolver's use of realistic science to explain key aspects related to the clan abilities. It's so rare for authors to actually bother to explain things like this, let alone explain it in perfect clarity and have it work so well in the story. Plus it completely spoke to my Biology Major side - I totally squealed and went "I KNOW WHAT THAT DOES!" before she even fully explained it. I love having these light bulb moments while reading.

The Telepathic Clans series has a little bit of everything for everyone. International mystery, romance, political drama, paranormal abilities, epic smack downs and to-die-for shopping trips. I don't think I'll ever be disappointed by what Kingsolver writes, and I'm already eagerly bouncing around waiting for the next in the series!

I really enjoyed the second installment of the succubus saga. Once again the author does an amazing job of bringing us into Brenna's world. I loved the descriptions of Ireland and the different places Brenna visits.

There was more of a back story given in the beginning of this novel. So if you haven't read the first book, The Succubus Gift, you won't be too confused or lost. Although I do highly recommend reading The Succubus Gift.

In this novel I really think Brenna is finally coming into her own in relation to her powers and her standing in the clan. She used to be unsure and hid from the world. Now not only is she being groomed to take over the clan, she has also began to accept her abilities and even enjoy them. There isn't as much of her romantic relationship in this one, but I think that is good because it gives us a chance to get to know Brenna the succubus, and it isn't just focused on Brenna the girlfriend. (there's nothing wrong with that either, but it does give a fresh change of pace from just your average romance novel)

I also got to find out more about some of the other clans in the world and how they are run and what influences them. Again I really like the world building that the author has done. Not just the descriptions, which as I said before I loved, but also how the characters interact with their world.

The only issue I had with this book was that sometimes characters would refer to events that happened in the past. Not in the previous novel, but "incidents' in the clans recent history. The events are referred to, but it is never explained what actually happened that makes them so important. It seems that they have some importance in relation to what is happening in the current story, but it is never really explained how. This happened in the first novel also, and while it annoyed me there, I assumed that these events might be explained in further detail in the second book. However this hasn't been the case. Overall though, this I found to be annoying, but it really didn't take away from my enjoyment of the story itself.

Over all I've REALLY enjoyed this series so far, and I can't wait for the third book to come out! I definitely recommend it!

First off, I actually read this as a beta reading copy. I know a few things have changed, but the story is the same and I feel confident in letting folks know what I over-all thought of it. I'll also admit that I helped do the cover art and blurb, so I'm not entirely not-involved but I think I can write an objective review.

So, on with it...

This is the second book in the Telepathic Clans Saga. I posted my review on Goodreads about the first one, which I had several issues with. However, I beta read the second book and was pleasantly surprised. I had trouble getting into the first until maybe half way through, but then it got me. The second book did a better job of grabbing and holding me all the way through.

I found the world of the telepathic clans to be fascinating, and I liked a succubus as the main character. I found it different and fun. I loved the polyamorous angles to the opinions of certain characters about love, sex, dating and life. It needs to be seen more in mainstream fiction. Not as The Big Deal as some menage romances, but just as a different way of life, of being. The open sexuality for women and men alike was wonderful. Just... it's a part of who we are. And when you're a succubus, even more!

The ball/party halfway through nearly made me take a cold shower.

But what I liked a lot better about this book was that we see all of these characters loving the MC, Brenna, but in this one we're shown why more than we're told why, which was an issue I had with the last book. I felt like that aspect was Tell rather than Show, but this fixed that and I felt better connected to Brenna. Rebecca was kickass. I'm still not sure I feel this is a "romance" per se, since while the first book felt more like a coming of age story, this was more a political world-builder, and coming into one's own.

Still, it was a good paced read with a fascinating world. I have the third book waiting on me to beta read it and I'm looking forward to it! This is a solid 4 Fireball tale.

Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous! BR Kingsolver's second book is everything I would have hoped from reading the first book in the series, The Succubus Gift.

1. This author is no one hit wonder--this book, too, has action, suspense, and fantasy. As in sexual fantasy, urban fantasy, and "Hey, I wish I were that rich" fantasy.

Succubus Unleashed is a well thought out sequel. The plot is strong, and our favorite characters come along for the ride on a European vacation. Brenna goes to meet her extended family and spend a bit of her enormous inheritance.

It picks up shortly after Book One, continuing the conflict of the Telepathic Clans while introducing new conflicts sure to be picked up in Book Three (not yet released).

So far everything by BR Kingsolver is well-edited, nicely paced, and one of a kind.

And of course there are more hot outfits, sexy scenes, and bad-a$$ fighting.

2. The main character Brenna embraces her role as not only a proudly sexual female leader, but also a priestess of an ancient Goddess.

Kingsolver draws from Irish mythology and history to create a mythos surrounding the Succubus. The Succubus today are descended from ancient priestesses who used sex as a way to raise energy for worship of the great creator Goddess.

This builds off of the themes of female sexuality, freedom and power begun in Book One.

There is archeological evidence to suggest that a goddess culture existed in many parts of the world before organized religion developed.

It's my personal belief that if society gave more acknowledgement to female divine power, sexual women wouldn't get all the crap that they currently do. Generally in modern America, there is a whole boatload of issues surrounding activity that is, well, pretty natural.

I think this aspect of the book is ridiculously cool-- but then I am a sex-positive, Goddess loving pagan and proud heathen. Call me unusual but this is my kind of book!

3. Travel to Ireland, and Paris

As I mentioned in my recent review of Everything to Lose---I adore books set in Europe. I mean who wouldn't want to not only be a powerful succubus heiress, but be jet-setting around the world??

Brenna also has a certain curiosity about the lives of cortesians. Now that she has embraced her sexuality, why not give getting paid a try? And why not in Europe?

This aspect of the book would probably appeal to fans of Secret Diary of a Call Girl as it is quite glamorous.

4. Brenna's family sure is complicated.

As so many new relatives are introduced, I can't say I remember everyone's name. I trust BR Kingsolver to remind me when I need to know in the next book. She did a good job of summarizing events from the previous book when needed, without going overboard.

Brenna doesn't expect this but many members of her family are ready to hand her a heavy responsibility.

Most of her Clan already sees her as a leader except there are some who won't make it easy for Brenna to take charge. These enemies make a stink in Succubus Unleashed, and will be sure to appear in the next book.

5. Crazy fighting.

This is one scene that will strike fear in the heart of any man! I'm serious.

Wow, BR's fight scenes are never boring. Brenna and her crew have take it to the next level. When a Succubus fights it is deadly, cunning and relentless.

I really wouldn't mess with these women...they have a tough bark, better take a hint and avoid the killer bite.

Adjusting to her new life as a succubus, Brenna Morgan has come to embrace her gifts with open arms. Taught to wield them to the best of her ability, she's surprised that she's accepted her new life so easily. Granted, she's still recuperating from the injuries she suffered at the hands of the succubi hunters. Never-the-less, it does little to deter her from living the life she was meant to live.

With her new best friend, Rebecca Healy, by her side, Brenna allows herself to grow and strengthen her abilities. She's no longer afraid to show the world who and what she is, though she knows she needs to be careful as to what she does and with whom. The succubi hunters are still out there, and she refuses to fall into one of their traps ever again.

Her fascination with Collin makes her question as to whether or not he could ever like her. Deep inside, she wants him to accept her for who and what she is. She knows that he takes his duties quite seriously, and is proud of what he does for the Clan itself. Yet she can't deny that she'd love to him open up to her a little more whenever possible. Never-the-less, she's determined to show him just how much she cares for him and more.

Immersed in the way of the life within the Clan, Brenna struggles to make sense of all she experiences. There's so much to get used to, and so much more she doesn't know. While everything might seem fine and dandy, she knows that not everything is what it seems. Danger lurks around the corner, something she must protect herself from at every turn. With the recent disappearances of telepaths from other Clans, she's knows it's only a matter of time before someone tries to lay a hand on her. If she's to remain one step ahead, she'll need to come up with a plan that will ensure her safety as well as that of those she loves. Sadly, that's easier said than done.

Picking up where the first book leaves off, Succubus Unleashed dives right in, and provides us with a meatier, sexier, and delightful representation of what Brenna's new life is like. She's still adjusting to her new role, though she's certainly enjoying herself in the process. Her turbulent life doesn't stop moving for one minute, and she's catapulted into situations that blow her mind in more ways than one. Erotic and so very steamy, this book will definitely leave you wanting more!

So, we're back again and things are getting deep. There's some travels, and some magic, and some romance, and some serious creepies. LOL And we've got some more back stories added, which makes it PERFECT to just pick up, even if you haven't read book one- I would tell you to read it cuz it's so good, but if you start with this one it won't hurt :) And now that people are finding out what Brenna is and her "usefulness" things are getting both very cool and really scary!

Brenna is finally cool with being who she is, and being ok with that. She is learning to uses her powers, and what those powers are. She's also growing some confidence. She is finally letting go and having fun. I really enjoyed seeing her growth so far. And now Brenna is learning that there's other clans and who they are and what they do.

The beautiful setting and world scenes are just gorgeous. There's so many things about this series that is fascinating to me. And there's even more action and more crazy to add to the first. I mean some seriously crazy fight scenes and scary moments! And Rebecca is still one of my favorite characters! And yes, I am still Team Collin and we do get to see more of him and some of his past.

I think my favorite part of the book is her explanations. I am just so very much impressed with how very cool her writing style and writing descriptions are! I am definitely a big big fan of this series. And I know my review for the first book was only 4 PAWS but this one is definitely a BIG FAT 5 PAWS!!! VERY COOL! :)

An unflattering portrayal

Did not finish it. ------ Rating: --- minus 3

I read the third book of the series on a whim and it was great. I went back to the first book a second time and still couldn't finish it. This book also had me bailing by the 50% mark. This reads more like a bad romance rather than an urban fantasy. For some reason I just had a soft spot for Kingsolver.

I was fairly bored at the time as I remember, which is my only excuse for trying this book or the next. I sometimes wish that Amazon had begun to not "Allow" me to see other reviewers, to see commenter's names and now grays out "like" buttons sometimes. 🤔

The above and more all began after I wrote a brutal review of a "sorry salute to the January 6, 2021 hero". It then seems Amazon took issue with my being a communist. 🙂

For more Amazon, see my review of "Stellar Heritage #1", a white working class US males literally control all of space book (a subgenre of its own) or Powers of the Earth (a sorry salute to the January 6, 2021 hero) and the comments of a Claes Rees Jr/cgr710 (a self-identified NeoNazi and US patriot).

To Claes Rees Jr/cgr710
Don't be a numpty. Be a smarty. Come and join the Communist Party. 🙂

These US patriots (Tucker Carlson, Claes Rees Jr and US Republican Party, for example) all seem to favor suppressing opposing opinions and increasing the powerlessness of the working class. I begin to think that the US constitution must be a truly dark document.

SLAVA UKRAINI !!! -----TA---- SLAVA GEROYAM !!!

Was tempted to reread this book because this and the third seem to blend together in my memory. My memory of this book was tainted by the misogynistic silliness of the first and I had not finished the first, so was "missing" some of the plot. The background world of supernatural and human power struggles is much better defined in this book. 🤗

The setting moving to Eire and the more generally European interactions and reactions did make for a much better set of characters. The writer's descriptive skills are shown to good advantage, I think.

I made the original notes to myself about teenage conversations (probably about boys) and an obsession with clothes shopping. I was bored by the shopping montage as remembered, that being outside my experience with women friends, including exes. Shoes, occasional dresses, skirts or tops were my experience but this emphasis on all things female apparel, just was not something that I ever experienced. 🤔

My class background and those of women I encountered from academia to work might make a difference. I say that to say that it might not be as annoying to some readers. It struck me as a sexist stereotype and I had been known to watch and like some episodes of "Sex and the City". Make of that what you will.

My other notes were that as a continuation of the first book, there was an epidemic of body image obsession among the female characters. I might have missed the accuracy of that, since it was not my lived experience but to me it seemed sad if accurate or just overtly misogynistic.

The telepathic and other powers were something of a strange blend. I had trouble at the time, understanding the boundaries of the clans or their powers. I would have thought that the nature and boundaries of all supernatural factions were more clearly defined by that point in the series. 😐

The sexual encounters were well handled it seems but they did not advance the plot as much as they might. The sex scene does not by itself count as character development. I thought at the time that they were a shallow substitute for character work. I also did not recognize much character growth.

This might be the writer's view of an immature US culture or a nod to mandatory sex talk in woman centered novels. This could appeal to some readers and not so much to others. I have my impression and would ask that you not judge the book solely on my opinion. 😊

The next book was different in pacing and setting with more serious character definition. It also involves awesome action arcs. You might want to try it, whether or not you were satisfied with this book. The Dresden, Junkyard Druid or Heartstriker series might also be entertaining. They are definitely better written than most of the genre.

I have more faith in print fantasy than film or TV but both seem to have devolved to romance novel or D&D adventure. Urban fantasy has survived better but still is not as inventive or interesting as what I recall. For science fiction, I generally prefer video to print at this moment. The bulk of low end print is just dismal.

I began listing YouTube channels in the hope that some low end writers might look to historical, philosophical or scientific sources to ground their books. I had received responses from seven or eight writers to my reviews, so I thought it might be a social good. I suspect that I have failed in that regard. If anyone should read this, you might find it an entertaining or interesting mix. 🤗

I began using YouTube in search of science fiction more than two years ago to search for science fiction-ey things. I was pleasantly surprised by the overwhelming number of special unrest channels. I expected several science fiction channels embedded in a sea of cute pet and music videos. I was nned to discover that the sire hosted so very many book channels. 😍😍

I do not hold myself or any other reviewer on Amazon to put much effort into one of these reviews. We write reviews with no expectation that any other reader will actually see them. If Amazon should want professional opinions, they should really hire experts to give professional analyses for their products (they distribute them, it is their product). The book channels provide all manner of views and some in-depth exploration of the best fiction and critiques of the different genre.

The hosted communities are thoughtful, cosmopolitan, enjoy varied types of books but most of all, love the entirety of bookish things. 😍 I recommend a visit to several book channels for any reader and have listed some below.

The experience is far different to that of Amazon (a site, which features unsolicited reader comments ranging from "You are stupid" to "You are reacting to recent anal rape". I have seen the insulting and the awful in response to many reviews written by both male female readers, when I was "Allowed" to see other reviews. 😑

As for Amazon, between the nutjob aggrieved members and the site's tech employees' out of control insanity, please consider treating this site as potentially hostile. 😐

I also came across the dedicated educational.video sites through sponsor sites on various channels. Wondrium, Epic History TV and others are wonderful and all worth a look. 😊

My YouTube picks of the moment.

Brittany Page, Red Plateaus, Folklore Worldwide, Zoe Bee, Tom Nicholas, Julie Nolke, Let's Talk Mythology, Books with Chloe, Munecat, Overthink Podcast, Cruising on the Border, 2Cellos, The Science of Science Fiction.

Again I ask that patriotic US readers who are offended by my reviews, to not read them. That is what the rest of us tend to do. I also do not believe that even US patriots, fail to realize that attacking content creators to "prove" ????? is just wrong. 🤔 It certainly does not make american culture more appealing. 🙂

Some of my favorite YouTube channels are.

Cruising Alba, Sarah Z, Mia Mulder, Ship Happens, Kings and Generals, Tom Nicholas, The Juice Media, Novara Media, Tara Mooknee, Owen Jones, Austin McConnell, The Little Platoon, A Day of Small Things, Lady knight the Brave, Library Ladder, Jean's Thoughts, With Olivia, Zoe Bee, Practical Engineering, Steve Shives, Jessie Gender, Alice Cappelle, Mythology and Fiction Explained, ARTiculations, Lex Fridman, Maria Dela Torre, Digital Engine, Ben and Emily, Mia Mulder, Sabine Hossenfelder, See U in History -Mythology, Plasma Channel, HackE4, Veritasium, The Templin Institute, Books with Emily Fox, Fraser Cain, Prime of Midlife, Lola Sebastian, OrangeRiver, EarleWrites, Between the Wars, Half as Interesting, Second Thought, Abby Cox, Karolina Zebrowska, Camper Vibe, Kathy's Flog in France, Double Down News, Alt Shift X, Ben G Thomas, Kraut, Then & Now, Nomadic Crobot, Real Time History, Epimetheus, Natasha's Adventures, Robbie Cummings, Sort of Interesting, What Vivi did next, SciTrek, Beautifully Bookish Bethany, Cari Can Read, GeoGirl, Joe Scott, Overly Sarcastic Productions, Asianometry, Jessica Gagnon, Just Write, The Researcher, Renegade Cut.

I wish you a pleasant morning, an enjoyable afternoon, a cozy evening, a wonderful night and may we all continue learning.

I’ve only recently discovered BR Kingsolver and found a new favorite. I’ve addictively read through all of her urban fantasies sci-fi series, as well as the only sci-fi story story of hers I could find (Border Patrol, in the Bellator collection). Here’s my review of all of them in one clump - the bottom line being that they are all easily 5 star books.

Rosie O'Grady's Paranormal Bar and Grill Series

This was the first series by this author that I read, trying it in a whim as it was free on KU and looked like fun. Oh Dear Lord was it ever. Perfect world-building with Fae, elves, vampires, mages, et. al. Perfect backstory with the world’s best assassin (our lead) funding out that she’s been lied to most of her life by the Order of the Illuminati who are actually evil and not the force for good she thought, followed by her lopping off the top tier of the Order and ending up in hiding at the eponymous Rosie O'Grady's Bar and Grill. That’s the short version. The long one is much more complex and the series itself is filled with great plot lines and a perfect story arc (though each book stands alone sequentially, ie, the work fine and end well so long as you read them in order. Addictive fun and a perfect series ender.

The Telepathic Clans Saga

This was my second Kingsolver series. It evolves around telepathic clans (no shocker there) filled with people with different sets of telepathic “Gifts” (like mind shielding) made up of a series of “Talents” (different ways to do it). There are initially 25 known Gifts. At the top are the Succubi, all female, who have a series of Gifts including the Succubus Gift (drain energy from sex, etc). Known as Druids in the Irish clans, these ladies are bad-a**. The lead here is a Druid named Brenna, but she’s so much more. While the average telepath has only a few gifts, abs the extraordinary ones have 12-15 (Druids all have a base set of 8), Brenna has all of the gifts, unheard of. Anyway, she gets into a series of adventures with action, infra and inter-clan politics, and do much more. Incredible stuff really, all set in a world very different (but equally imaginative) as the prior series I’d read, and filled with a growing cast of perfectly crafted supporting characters. Once again you can read each book sequentially stand-alone, and they end with a perfect series ender.

Chameleon Assassin

I had initially avoided this series because I tend not to like a post-apocalypse setting. In this case the apocalypse in question (atomic wars leading to massive population loss and mutations) was so far in the past that society has more or less recovered and has now passed the pre-war tech levels. Our hero here, Libby, is the coolest kick-a** dame in fiction. An assassin and thief, among other things, who has two primary mutations: she’s a chameleon (she can look like anyone or pretty much blend into the background) plus a sort of electrokenisis, and a pretty fantastic set of physical skills (don’t mess with her in a fight) and computer hacking talents. Add in another perfect supporting cast and, well, just wow. I adored this series.

Dark Streets

This is the last of the series that I read, currently on book 2 (and ending with a perfectly good “Happily Enough For Now” though I’m drooling for the next book). It’s set in a world that’s very similar to that of The Telepathic Clans (though there are some differences - Washington DC is nuked in this one) but society is different as the Magi, who beat back (to a draw) the demons who invaded once rifts between worlds opened, now pretty much rule everything. Our lead here is another kick-a** dame, a police detective who is a magitek (a rare form of magic that enables one to do magic with machinery - including computers), potential heir to one of the Ten (the ten most powerful Magi clans who basically rule the world) but also the granddaughter of the man who accidentally opened the rifts and let all the monsters, demons and fantasy beings in. The perspective is very different, part gritty detective tale, part politics and warfare on the global scale, pure urban fantasy. Fantastic stuff, really.

Border Patrol (in the Bellator collection)

This was the only pure sci-fi story I’ve read by BR Kingsolver and was frustratingly perfect. Military sci-fi, the heroine here is the commander of an assault troop unit, it was an absolute total blast (and I’ve been reading this stuff since Robert A. Heinlein’s Starship Troopers was first published, so I should know). Perfect characters and storyline. The frustration is that while it ends in a very satisfying manner, I’m massively frustrated that this was only a short story. I’m truly hoping the author turns it into the first book in a new series.

Frankly, I’m hoping that BR Kingsolver expands every series she’s written, even though most have ended with great HEAs. That’s the sign, I know, of works that are fantastic and easy to highly recommend.

Ok I have a bone to pick with this book. Why the hell did Rebeca get put in charge of Brenna, the most special snowflake of all snowflakes with ZERO TRAINING!? She's meant to organize all this travel and such by herself with absolutely NO help or direction and no communication between her and her security!? She's never been out of the country and doesn't even have her own passport and yet she's meant to organize flights, hotels, food, transport and every fcukn thing else for like 30+ people traveling multi international for TWO MONTHS, while halfs, like her and succubus like her charge brenna, are getting kidnapped, raped, murdered and sold into sex slavery!! How incompetent is every character in this book. I honestly just wanna end it here. Dunno, I'll decide in the morning.

And another thing! What was that whole thing in the first book when Collin and everyone else is all like:

You're amazing
I can't believe you're cool with this
Aren't you worried he'll choose her

When Brenna pushed Collin into taking that other girl home cause she wasn't ready to sleep with him and she gave him permission to sleep with anyone he please like it's something special. Which ot would be in human standards but they are clan and I think this book has established that the clan are veeeerryy free with non-monogamist relationships so why were they all like "ah-mah-gahd, she's ah-may-zing!"
Also collin getting all weird when she was with other guys.

Update:
And I'm back to make it official. I'm ending this series here because

🚨🚨🚨DON'T READ PAST THIS POINT IF YOU DONT WANNA READ A SPOILER!🚨🚨🚨
Some chick named Rosie (don't know who the hell that is) tells Brenna that's for recommending me for the job, I got it. Also I was Collins first. I want a succubus baby but my fiance isn't a carrier. Collin is. I don't wanna hurt you or anything but would you mind if I asked Collin to be my baby daddy. Of cause I also want Collin to be a part of the babies life too. You don't mind?

And what the hell does Brenna say? Why are you asking me? If Collins ok with it, I'm ok with it ☺🤭

It was a bit strange to have the climax section of the book full of a trip around Europe with a gathering of smaller events instead of the standard accumulation of the plot. It worked, though.

A bit harder to accept was how easily Brenna fell into all the wealth and responsibility. It hasn't even been a full year, but someone who has only before been responsible for herself and her research is very suddenly comfortable ordering people around and managing finances in the millions. All while protesting that she's not good at this sort of thing and isn't ready for it. While there is definitely a characterization involved in not /believing/ you're good at something you are, there needs to be more on the side of "not capable" to justify her feeling this way. And I would've been more comfortable with her screwing up a lot more. I get that there's a Chosen One schtick going with this, but it always rubs me the wrong way when someone is so completely capable of absolutely everything and constantly "astonishes" new characters with her power and wonderfulness.

Still a very enjoyable read though, despite those nits.

Succubus Unleashed
4 Stars

I've been looking forward to B.R. Kingsolver's next book release. So, while cruising the internet looking for its release date, I started reading and listening to their earlier work (Magitek) and the Succubus series.

These books are best read in order.

Succubus Unleashed starts where the last book left off. I love world building, how well Kingsolver portrays family and relationships. Their books evoke an emotional response. I find myself re-reading their work. Note the Succubus series is a very spicy meatball; pace yourself.

Overall, I found this book fun, entertaining, and humorous. I'm invested! I absolutely love all the strong, kick-ass female characters. I'd recommend this book if you're in a reading slump, because it's well written, and a entertaining and satisfying read.

Thinking they’d gotten to the head of the succubi trade ring, Brenna and her minions, along with the rest of the clan find what they got to was the tip of the iceberg as Brenna travels with her entourage to the continent on a multi-purpose visit.

Here’s an idea, let’s make Brenna queen! Not being a fan of Collin, the succubi’s new toy to be shared with everyone plus the confusion of the mass amount of ‘shes’ as the succubi became even more empowered, this outing did not appeal to my taste. Overall, it felt like the middle part of a trilogy.

Great book

This is another great story with a great cast of characters. Lots of action and a twisting plot that pulls you in. If you're at all prudish you probably won't enjoy this book.

I have adored the author's other series but sadly, despite two attempts, I can't cope with this Telepathc clan series. It lacks the finesse and is very dificult to read.
