Just hand me a good idea, and I'll set the stage and create the costumes. I'll make it real. Such is the motto of Mason, a big back leatherman with a reputation for intense role-playing. Unfortunately, most of the bottoms in Mason's local leather bar have cliché fantasies. They want him to play the stereotypical role of bad-ass cellmate or gangbanger. Then enters Leo—an older gent who had nothing at all to offer—not youth or good looks, or even stamina. Leo, however, has something Mason hasn't had before—a pulpy fetish decades old and far from the usual. The Fancy Man cannot refuse such a challenge! (Novella - 13000 words.)

Totally awesome. I couldn't even imagine I'd like it this much - I usually find BDSM mind-numbing boring. I was interesed in the next book's plot, and this one was short, so I thought it wouldn't hurt to read it. And I was hooked right from the first page. Beautiful writing - crispy and clever and fun, which was nice. But also deep, full of emotion and touching, and it's not what you normally find in erotica. Mason, the main character, is insanely likeable. I can't wait to read more about him. And the whole acting out of a fantasy - for one thing, it was absolutely fascinating. Nothing like usual BDSM stuff. I could've read it on and on. It also was very moving, made me feel happy for Leo - but he deserved it for daring to reach for something he dreamed about. Sweetest ending, too.
Could not keep a grin off my face. A gem of a read I tell ya. Dayum! I creamed my jeans on this one. Clean up on aisle six! It's been a long time since a story caught me up like that. Sweet jeezus! Five Golden stars.
This was really interesting. I was a bit disappointed that Mason didn't get a HEA but then I learned this is part of a series. I will have to check out the next one. I enjoys the writing and it story idea.
Wow. I actually can't remember the last time I liked a story this much. It made me cry, a lot. It turned me on. This story is so specifically written -- each character so utterly real -- that it achieves that magical universal liftoff. I am not like either Leo or Mason, but I have felt the things that they feel, ached for the same reasons, struggled with asking for what I want, been confused about what to do when I get it, underestimated someone, and felt the shame that comes when I see the hero in a person I previously scorned. This is a brave, lovely story, unafraid to tackle all the most difficult and significant issues of race, sexuality, and two human beings relating to each other. It's also totally awesome if you're into BDSM and want to see what a top at the pinnacle of his game can pull off. Fancy Man is wonderfully creative, and I love the world within world quality of this story. I slipped into the world that Fancy Man builds for Leo, just as much as I slipped into the world that Thirteen built for me. Thank you so very much, and I cannot wait to see more of Fancy Man.
Don't be fooled by the cover, this is an exquisitely crafted story about desire and fulfillment. Both characters are so vividly displayed and developed it's easy to identify with them. Even if you've never fantasized about anything like what happens in this book it's still such a sensual tale of 'getting what you want' that it will move you. Scenes from this story will stay with you long after you finish reading.
Wow, this story proves that I can enjoy a short story, and the story didn't even have a classic love story. It was emotional, nostalgic, hot, all at the same time. Very beautiful characters, both growing in this story. I loved how they helped each other learn something and that they also got me thinking. And my romantic heart loved that Leo found someone at the end of the story, that was enough for me.
★★★☆☆ ~ 3 Stars A sweet vignette about Fancy Man, Mason, who likes to role play fantasies that interest him, who'd lost his interest in the same old fantasy requests, especially when his fantasies were ignored, then he met Leo, a guy who was finally able to embrace being gay but was afraid that life had passed him by.
Both Mason and Leo surprised each other and neither will forget the other.
