Here we go again …

Just when it seems life at Mythos Academy can’t get any more dangerous, the Reapers of Chaos manage to prove me wrong. It was just a typical night at the Library of Antiquities — until a Reaper tried to poison me. The good news is I’m still alive and kicking. The bad news is the Reaper poisoned someone else instead.

As Nike’s Champion, everyone expects m

Hmm, I didn't like it as much as Dark Frost or Crimson Frost. There is lesser action in here, lesser answers given by Nike but I guess that's for the next book. However Gwen has totally grown here, plenty capable to defend herself and be worthy to be called Nike's champion.
If in the previous books she was treated like shit, in Midnight frost she becomes more of a celebrity, the person expected to protect the students and hold the reapers at bay. The good news is, Gwen fits the role. She is not

I have to say the girl that represents Gwen looks different. I guess its suppose to represent how Gwen has changed over the time. Anyways, the cover looks so cool! I like it.

Recommends it for: someone looking for fun - and flying animals!
Logan Freaking Quinn.

I'm right there with you, Gwen. Not a whole lot can really beat LFQ, although hanging out with a bunch of flying gryphons comes pretty close!

As if the talking sword and the wolf as a pet weren't awesome enough, the "Stacia really wants one of those" factor was increased with the addition of gryphons. WHY CAN'T I HAVE A GRYPHON??? That Gwen Frost gets everything. Never mind that evil beings are trying to kill her at every turn, because she gets cool toys. And Logan Freaki

I didn't expect to like this book as much as I did. I have been following this series from the beginning, and this latest installment was such a pleasant surprise. It was almost as if the main character had a lobotomy or has ben taken over by a much more pleasant secret twin. This was a fun, action-packed book to read, made much more enjoyable by the growing maturity of the main character, Gwen. Despite that, it still has its faults, and I felt that it lacked the oomph needed t

Gwen Frost is back and she ain't afraid to kick some Reapers' asses!

I was provided with an advanced electronic copy of this book in return of an honest review. This review will be also posted on Smokin’ Hot Book Blog closer to the release date.

As always, at the beginning of my Mythos Academy Review, my great respects go to Jennifer Estep for creating this shamelessly enjoyable read, that will be one of my favorites young adult series forever. She’ve done fantastic job with Midnight Frost, and I

Can I just take a moment and reflect on the awesomeness of Jennifer Estep? Her writing is without a doubt phenomenal. I loved this series so much, that the minute I got it in my hands, I read it that day within a few hours.

Plot: DA BOMB BABY! Fast-paced, action packed with loads of excitement. I can express in words how much I adored this book. It has plenty of on the edge of your seat drama, never letting up on the reader.

I was so glad to get back to reading a new book in my favoritest series EVER! I absolutely LOVE it!

So, in this installment of the Mythos Academy series, not surprisingly, Gwen is almost killed...AGAIN! This time someone attempted to poison her...but no such luck (for the reapers, that is). Instead, someone close to Gwen (if you can call it that) is poisoned in her place. Now Gwen must save this someone before it's too late by going out to find an antidote in a very

Before reading this book, if you haven't, I really encourage you to read the novel Spartan Frost that is set right before this one. It's written in Logan's point of view and gives us an insight of his struggles after the battle at the end of Crimson Frost and it also builds the hype for this book.

Some reaper is still trying to kill Gwen, (LOL, what's new? She should really invest in a great life insurance!) but this time somebody else is hurt instead of her and the team (minus Logan because he i

In Midnight Frost we see Gwen really starting to come into her own; all of her hard work and training is finally paying off. She can now slay Reapers with the best of ‘em and she’s also quickly becoming the Pantheon’s greatest defense in the looming Chaos War. The learning curve has been steep and unforgiving but Frost is finally proving herself worthy to be called Nike’s Champion. In this installment we learn more about Gwen’s dad’s side of the family, a new character na

I was pretty excited to read this book and well I may have been somewhat disappointed. This book is good, don’t get me wrong, but it doesn’t even come close to measuring up to the awesomeness of Crimson Frost or even Dark Frost.

The one thing I love about this series is that even though some of the characters can come off as clichés, you love them; you just cannot not love them. They are all well developed and they all have some role, be it big or small, they aren’t there

Quick & Dirty: Another great addition to the series, with a fully developed world and filled with developed characters as well as a well thought out plot.

Opening Sentence: I was trapped.

Midnight Frost picks up right where the previous book in the series left off -- with Logan still gone and Gwen still pining over him. Poor gypsy girl. And, of course, since the Reapers were yet again unsuccessful in their attempts to take down Gwen in Book 4, naturally they are still after her.

And they just keep popping up... And a surprise attack leads Gwen and her friends to Colorado... And some strange girl keeps giving Gwen the evil eye... And someone seems to keep following her...

It's been a while since I read book 4 in this series, but after only a chapter I felt like I was catched up again on the events and could enjoy the story. Jennifer Estep uses the right amount of recap to make you feel like you don't miss anything. The story starts of a bit slow, but after that the pace improves and there is action, adventure and more. Someone gets poisoned and Gwen and her friends have to go and find the antidote. This series can be a bit cliché at times and predictable, but I j ...more

I would probably give this one 4.5 Stars but as it's Jennifer, I'm rounding up!

There were parts of this story I loved, the plot is starting to move along at a quick pace again and there are new aspects being added in which is keeping my interest. I loved the added mythology and the insights into Gwen's family. It was a little predictable in parts, not just to me but also to the characters in the book themselves. It's still my favourite YA series and I will be back for more!

I needed something lighthearted before losing my mind over all those psychotic thrillers and this book was perfect, I'm still enjoying this series a lot. (Thanks Shaina for lending me all these books :))!)

And my little Gwen-gurl really grew strong in this one, I'm looking forward to read the final installment.

I really wasn't that impressed with this story. It felt so unnecessary! There was a lot of repeated information in this book, and Gwen spent the entire time whining about Logan leaving her. I did like meeting Rory, in light of the fact that there is now going to be a spin off series that follows her. The ending events were also interesting, but also very confusing as well. I'll read the last book in the series, because I am too OCD not to, but I'm not holding out much hope for it.

This is the fifth book in the Mythos Academy series. Last I heard Estep was contracted for six book in this series, the sixth book will be titled Killer Frost and is due out in Feb of 2014.

In this book Gwen and friends must travel to Mythos Academy in Colorado to find the antidote to a poison that the Reapers attacked with. Of course they know it is a trap. They must travel through the Colorado Mythos school to get to the antidote location.

This book has very much of a questing feel to it; the c

The Mythos Academy series is a perfect study in character evolution. There are so many series where the main character is very static, and the only things that change from book to book are his or her interactions with the supporting characters and the situations in which they find themselves. That's all well and good for awhile, but not very fulfilling. As a reader, I get so much more enjoyment and satisfaction when I see the characters I love grow up literally before my eyes.

My, what an epic disappointment this series turned out to be. Not to mention, the amount of time I wasted on this! I initially thought that I'd wait for the series to conclude and then resume reading book 3 onwards. I finished books 3, 4 and 5 and I could not bring myself to read further. The books all follow a formula and if you've read the first two books, you know exactly what's gonna happen in the rest of the books.

So Gwen is Nike's champion, and the chosen one to kill Loki, the eevil god of

Ehh.... this installment was a bit too predictable. Maybe it’s because I’ve been binging and they are all starting to run together but all the twists and turns are completely visible long before they bend. Also, it seems the adults give the kids all the responsibility while sitting back and wringing their hands.... now that’s totally believable (snark). Still, it moves the overall arc along and was interesting to read. So.... on to the next.

Gwen Frost is back and still fighting the good fight. She's been through hell --and is still recovering from near-death at the hands of her boyfriend. It's not easy. She can't sleep without having nightmares; she can't walk around without people staring and whispering. But she won't curl up and quit. When one of the Reapers poisons her boss at the library, there's no doubt the search for a cure will lead to a trap. That doesn't stop Gwen from gathering her friends and hitting the road to do what ...more

The wait for this, the fifth installment of the Mythos Academy series is well worth it.
