Redwine Hill: The Secrets At Primevil Asylum #1

Rate this book
Excerpts from Readers Favorite Reviews. "Redwine Hill: The secrets at Primevil Asylum" creates a dystopian universe of lost souls that young adults and older readers will enjoy. The idea behind the book is simple yet incredibly original and successful. On their sixteenth birthdays, practically every single teenager succumbs to a damaged brain and goes insane. It is a dangerous world when you are sixteen and being stalked by collectors. Charlotte C. Carron is one such youth. This tough young woman does her best to avoid being caught but soon is ensnared and sent to Redwine Hill to join her peers in a battle for survival, for something has afflicted sixteen year olds-which takes away their sanity. Readers will follow the story of parentless Charlotte who is taken to the infamous 'Primevil' asylum, the worst of the worst, where she befriends Serenity and Jared, the guard. This asylum offers nothing but abuse, pain and danger. Teens are dying at 'Primevil' and Charlotte stumbles onto the reason why. Serenity vanishes and Charlotte is determined to get to the bottom of the mystery, no matter how dangerous that might prove to be. The teenage characters, unlike the adults we meet who are mostly unattractive and untrustworthy, are appealing and show great resourcefulness and resilience in their struggles in the bottomless pit of anguish they inhabit. But it is not all bad. Alongside the represson distrust and corruption are loyalty, friendship and love.

Book Title: "Redwine Hill: The Secrets at Primevil Asylum”
Author: L.L. Stolmeier

Review: I have to say I did like L.L. Stolmeier/Helland’s other book “The Hellandback Kids” better but this story was really good as well! The book was eerie and kept you turning the pages to find out exactly what was going on in the Asylum on Redwine Hill. The story is about a mysterious illness that causes all teenagers to go insane on or around their 16th birthday and poor Charlotte Carrion gets tossed into one of the worst asylums around. From having to eat meat that could come from almost any imaginable source to falling in love with the only guy that could ever likely understand her, the story leaves your holding your breath and waiting for the next surprise.
I really liked this story a lot and I do hope to get my hands on more of L.L. Stolmeier/Helland novels. This writer has a lot of promise and her books are amazing. Sign me up for the fan club!

This book was a bit of a disappointment. The story had so much promise, but the writing itself needed work. I assume this book is self-published, and, if that's the case, then I would recommend getting a beta-reader for the next one. Someone with a critical eye could have suggested many ways in which the story, the writing, the pacing, and the plot progression could have been improved.

I received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads Giveaway.

This is a story about Charlotte, who is sent to an asylum when she turns sixteen because, that is where all the sixteen year old kids go who are now "crazy". No one knows why all sixteen year old kids go crazy on their birthday, but soon Charlotte wants to find out. She is joined by friends to help solve the mystery of the sudden insanity, missing patients, ghosts that haunt the halls and the mystery meat that is served in the cafeteria. The story if full of secrets and dark mystery of the on goings of Primevil Asylum.

I would recommend this book to those in their early teens. It has just enough mystery and intrigue for a young mind. Very fun read! Keeps you guessing the who way through.

Hi Goodreads members. I appreciate the reviews for Redwine Hill and The Hellandback Kids. I enjoy writing but I'm hanging up my author shoes and I'm going on to another endeavor. I ask for prayers for my niece who lives at the Playboy Mansion. She's known for awhile she has the BRAC2 gene for breast cancer. There's a 85-90% chance she'll get breast cancer. So I think when she went to live with Hugh Hefner it was her way of coping with her future, and having one last memory of her old body. She's getting a double mastecomy today. God Bless you Trisha Frick-Speedy recovery. Love you with all my heart.

Teenagers in Boston are becoming mentally challenged on their sixteenth birthday. The Collectors grab the teenagers and bring them to an insane asylum. Charlotte C. Carrion is captured and taken to Primevil Asylum. She finds and befriends some of the inmates as she searches for a way out. Now some of the teenagers are showing up in pieces along the shore. It's up to Charlotte to expose the secrets and save teenagers worldwide.

There is a secret ingredient in the meat that will have everyone's stomachs turning.

The idea behind this book was good but the story was predictable for me. I knew what was going to happen waaay before it happened and that I did not like. I couldnt connect with the characters seeing as how I found them over rated and tacky. There was one turn of events at the end that I enjoyed and didnt expect. This book is definitely for a younger audience.
