This is not a love story. At least, not in the way you're thinking. It's a story about girl meets boy (after boy, after boy), boy does crazy things and girl somehow lives to tell the tale. It's also a story about how girl meets herself, does some crazy things and learns to love herself. And to really love others. But I'm getting ahead of myself. Filled with not-so-quiet re ...more

When I started reading this book, I liked the short chapters, each a mini-story, the light-hearted humor, and quirky footnotes. I thought, "what a nice, casual read!" I found myself laughing out loud at the author's internal dialogue, and physically wincing at her obsession with a certain boy and her, at times seemingly desperate, attempts to find the perfect man and the dreamy fairy tale. Raw, funny, and intimate. In the style of Elizabeth Gilbert, Griffis opens her journey as a love-struck-never-been-kissed college senior who struggles between her hopes for a happily-ever-after and closure from an undefined relationship. As she moves to New York, she opens herself to the strange world of online and speed dating. In her snarky sarcasm she skewers the pushy lawyers, the self-absorbed actor/bartenders, and the manically unaware males that she encounters. The funniest section of the ...more

I was honestly hesitant to read this book, given that most personal narrative I've read directly from bloggers has been disappointing to say the least (note: you CANNOT take blog posts and turn them into books). But I was actually completely captivated by this book, and read it in less than a week. Many of us can relate to this "memoir in sixty-four men." We all have had Timmys in our lives.

Such a fun trip through the world of dating and terrible boys! I don't read many memoirs so this was a new experience for me. Definitely a page turner! I gobbled it up in a couple days. Highly recommend, especially to the travel hungry, boy crazy...and everyone else too.
