The story line regarding the murder were really good and kept you guessing as to who did it but the romance part with the main characters was a bit lame

Not sure why but She's Gotta Be Mine and Fool's Gold are very slow moving. I felt some of the dialogue prattled on and on. In romantic suspense stories I want more than what I got in this story. I knew something was going to happen but it just takes to long to get there. In my opinion Jennifer Skully did a really good job of hiding the murderer.

Fun, sexy and full of real characters, genuine emotions, and authentic stories.

A strong story, full of well rounded characters and plenty of heart. Part steamy romance, part detective story, it includes some notes of graphic violence, but all completely in context. There are many humorous scenes and moments to enjoy, and many different compelling emotional scenes that provide a solid foundation to engage with the protagonists and their journeys. A stand alone novel, but part of a series. I have not read the others in this series. I greatly enjoyed this book and can highly recommend it. More for those who like some crime/ mystery with their sexy romance than those hooked on police procedurals. Definitely for those who like to be treated as adult readers with believable plot, genuine reactions and emotions, and three dimensional protagonists. :D Thank you Jennifer Skully

Fool's Gold by Jennifer Skully is an entertaining contemporary romance. Ms. Skully has delivered a well-written book loaded with outstanding characters. Tyler is the sheriff of Cottonmouth and is called away to where his sister lives in Goldstone, using his vacation time to help put his sister's marriage back on track. Simone loves Goldstone and it's people. She writes erotic stories for clients through the internet. Tyler and Simone's story is packed with drama, humor, sizzle and suspense. I enjoyed reading Fool's Gold and look forward to reading more from Jennifer Skully in the future. Fool's Gold is book 2 of the Cottonmouth Series but can easily be read as a standalone. This is a complete story, not a cliff-hanger.

Just as good as the first book, if not better!

Often I find a series starts with a bang, then becomes worn, jaded, repetitive, or varies so far from the first book that you are left wondering ' WTF?'. This book was entertaining, and whilst it followed the events of book 1 it could be read as an entertaining story on it's own merits.
I found the Brax and Simone story enjoyable, with plenty of love, drama, mystery, angst, and action thrown in.
Thanks for the book!

Brax, his sister is wanting advice on her marriage. She is afraid it is falling apart and he is having an affair. As for Brax he was divorced after five, so what advice could he give. Had vacation time so came to Goldstone The other woman Simone happens to write internet porn, that her husband she thought was having affair with. As for Brax he fell at once for her. Murder was at half point, so more just romance.
Good characters and enjoyable to read.

Did I enjoy this book? Yes it was entertaining. Would I say that it was quality and I agreed with what I was reading? No. I feel I was not the intended audience. It gives a romance written for less progressive women positions. I think that half the time I was cringing but then the other half I was intrigued of what was going to happen next. But it did feel like it was advertised as more of a romance and I was actually only interested in the mystery.

Maybe it’s just me but I had a hard time reading this one. Brad comes to help his sister with her failing marriage and finds Simone instead. Carl goes missing and then we have a who done it scenario. Good thing Brad is a cop so he can help with the investigation. I kinda lost the whole romance part with the catch a killer storyline going on at the same time.

Fool's Gold

The main female character writes erotica, so this is not a clean book. However, they only have sex a couple of times, and it's not as descriptive as some books are, so it was okay. I enjoyed the mystery, and the culprit was a surprise.

The last book was obsessed with butts, this one it is tally-whackers. It feels like a running gag in this series. Still I did not hate it!

I really liked Brax in the other book and hoped he would get a HEA. He is a bit mopier this time around than I remember him. I wish he had the same playful feel as he did in the other story. He started to get that way again midway through the book, especially with her mother.

I really like Simone, most of the time. She does have moments where she acts the doormat, but she really comes back strong in the end. I adore her attitude and sense of humor. Such a fun character!

The dynamic between Brax and Simone is witty and fun. I adore banter! The attraction is instant, not sure I believe the feeling yet. They have a solid start, but the I love you's are a bit quick.

Ms Skully crafts a great story with loveable characters. I am enchanted by he quirky small towns! She also has a way of making you love somebody and them killing them off. It really breaks your heart! It is a definite testament to her skill as a storyteller.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by June Wayne, who does a lovely job. I really enjoyed her pace and the energy she adds to the read. Her voices were distinct and consistent, I just wish she had hit a few of the accents harder. She is definitely a narrator I will look for again.

The smexy stuff was plenty hot!! It is an open bedroom door but not as detailed as an erotic romance. Still makes a gal blush plenty! I love all the euphemisms peppered throughout!

Disclosure - I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts, opinions and ratings are my own.

I enjoyed this. The silly cover made it look ridiculously Sex in the City, but it was actually quite well done. Sex positive without being irritatingly self-congratulatory over it, and the dialogue is cute. It was wonderfully void of jealous tirades, tortured mistrust and the insta-suspicion so common to romances, and felt very modern.

I wish the back cover copy hadn't spoiled the book for me, but that's hardly the author's fault (unless she wrote the copy, in which case, she should rethink her blurb writing policies). I see the synopsis here on GR is a bit more restrained, which is nice.

I do wish the heroine and hero had talked about more than sex at some point, though, as this left me wondering what they will do when/if the lust ever dries up. On this score, the book would have worked better as a romp, rather than a romance.

Still, quite enjoyable. I would certainly read more by this author (as long as it's not Jackie's story).

ETA: Attempted to re-read in July 2016, but gave up halfway through. Though I seem to have enjoyed it well enough in the initial read, it now seems way too long with too little joy for a successful re-read. That's a shame, as I expected to find it fun, again. This time around, it was just plain boring with no end in sight. Seems it might be time to release this into the wild.
