He took her captive...she stole his heart.

All women just naturally loved him—at least until now, Kieran FitzAllen noted, bemused. Mistress Glenys Seymour seemed immune to his roguish charms. Granted, he had kidnapped her, which could be somewhat off-putting. But ensorcellment had to be afoot for such a master thief to be so completely enchanted by this very practical maide

This is a re~read. I read most of her books before I even had a PC and became a member of Gooreads. As most of her books, this is a very Good read. Kiernan FitzAllen popped up in some of her earlier books. He was described as so impossibly handsome that some of the heroes do not even want him near their betrothed or wives despite him being related to them (the women). So I am glad that Ms. Spencer~Paul gave him his own story. This author is a rare and gifted storyteller, for she is able to make ...more

A medieval romance with just a touch of paranormal. This novel is a prequel, of sorts, to the later "Enchanters" books set in the Regency. I definitely appreciated having this backstory, and loved seeing the earlier incarnations of magical Seymours, but the setup between the hero and heroine just seemed forced. He kidnaps her, she tries to escape, he's reluctantly attracted, she's reluctantly attracted...enough already.

this would have been so much better without the "magic," which was half-assed at best. the story would have been so much better without it. it felt forced and foreign, like it wasn't supposed to be part of the original story, but then for some reason they went back in and added it.

This author also writes under the name Mary Spencer

When I was a senior in high school, everyone in my graduating class was asked to fill out a questionnaire supposing where we'd be in ten years' time, what we'd be doing and what our accomplishments would be. I put down that I would be a published author and have written the Great American Novel. I was joking, of course, but I really did want to be
