Fame can't buy her love...

Alana ~ The Book Pimp
Solid 4's.

First 30-50 Pages were a real turn off; after that it was quite engaging. I can't fully explain why those initial pages are such a turn-off, but they really were. It's not like there was huge amounts of world building like in PNR/UF (this is a contemporary romance) but maybe it was even Abby herself that just soured me in the beginning.

Loved the male lead, but still don't fully understand his choices. That, and their odd choices really was the largest reason (other than the first few

I really enjoyed Abby Road...It was a fun interesting read that kept me captivated from start to finish.
Abby is a girl that you instantly connect with. She has the life every girl dreams of...At least once in their life I would say...ROCK STAR!! Lol...
BUT...as we begin reading and seeing the everyday life of Abby, I gotta say...her life was not something I would want after all...
She has endured so much in a short period of time and all of

MY THOUGHTS
LOVED IT

Abigail Kelly is one of the top performers in the world with her band, Mustang Sally, and as lead singer she can have her pick of guys. At twenty four, she still hasn't found the right one and since her every move is detailed in the tabloids, she doesn't have a lot of opportunities to date casually. Every detail and minute of her life is dictated by her manager, Max, who seems to care more about profit than her well being. Abby has been touring ever since her brother died and

As a little girl, I dreamed of being a famous musician. I sang all over the place, and some would even say I was famous in and around my own hometown. But the fame that I received is nothing compared to the amount of pressure put on the super famous, as brilliantly portrayed in Abby Road.

Abigail is an incredibly famous rock star. But when the stress over her brother’s death and the overbearing tenacity of her manager gets to be too much, she snaps as the cameras are rolling. It’s at this point

If anyone dislikes the Beatles… I’m sorry, but we can never be friends. Ever. I will not understand you. That being said, I want to meet Abigail Kelly. She has made it onto my list of fictional characters that I’d love to meet in real life.

Abigail Kelly started college wanting to go into the Fine Arts, maybe being a painter or something of the sort. But by a complete accident, she was working at her summer job at a record studio, and was helping her boss test out some new equipment and BAM! Her

This is my new favorite piece of chick lit! I loved it! It is unlike anything else I have read. Despite being a pop star, Abby is a very real person with real emotions and real issues. Todd, while certainly dreamy, is also real and complex. Ophelia London keeps the story fresh as she introduces supporting characters throughout the book. The dual setting keeps the story fresh as well. The main characters have their share of hurt and angst, but the author keeps it light by infusing humor. The ...more

I've read Abby Road and it was heart-thumpingly great. In turns, it's witty, romantic, tear-jerking, sexy, and snort-coffee-out-of-your-nose funny. It's a wonderful book, and I'm so glad it's coming out in time for the beach season because it's a perfect summer read.

Nowadays, I rarely request a book on Net Galley. When I saw that this was available for request about a week or so ago, I was looking for a book that could jump start my then, virtually non-existent reading appetite. And for a moment or two there, it had a fantastic start. But while reading the rest of the book, I was encumbered with choppy writing that didn't relent till the end. For a book that was this long, the author decided to skip a lot of what I would consider a necessity. I mean, the ...more

I've been getting more interested in music lately and I think it's being reflected in my reading -- or there's more music in fiction. Abby Road is proof that this publisher first known for its erotica is capable of working well in other genres. In this case I would say that Abby Road is one of the “new” New Adult sub-genre . There is no overt sex, not event a “first base” event but sex and beer are discussed and so is partying.

I am not really sure of the

Abby Road was a fun read for me. Well mostly fun, Abby's "road" to her HEA was rather rocky, but it was interesting to watch. I like books like this where the main character has to learn something. I don't mind that most of the romance is off-screen and the focus is on the one character. I think Abby Road is a very good book if you don't put labels on it like romance or chicklit and just read it to enjoy a great book.

First there is Abby. She's a pop star who's having trouble since her brother's

Brilliant dialogue. Brilliant characters. Brilliant read. I highly recommend!

I received an ARC of Abby Road. First let me say, I read to detox. I have twin toddler boys and by the end of the day all I want to do is escape and relax. And this is EXACTLY what this book did for me, I was quickly sucked into Abby’s world.

What I really enjoyed about the main character, Abby, was that she was flawed. I really dislike reading books when all the characters are too perfect. Abby is real. You identify

I loved this book! I'll admit that, when I started this book, I wasn't sure what I was going to think. The summary made it sound amazing, but I found the initial writing style somewhat lackluster, and in the first 50 pages or so, things just felt somewhat fake to me. Superficial. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but still. . . And then things picked up, and I forgot all about everything I didn't like about the first 50 pages.

In essence, Abby Road is a coming-of-age story about Abigail Kelly,

For as long as I can remember I've secretly wanted to be a rock star. As a little girl I used hairbrushes as microphones while singing along to my records. Even now, if you're stopped beside me at a stoplight, you can see me singing at the top of my lungs and rocking out to whatever song I'm currently obsessed. Not having a drop of natural singing talent hasn't stopped me from my rock star fantasies or living vicariously through characters like Abigail Kelly.

What I liked:
Abby Road is an exceptionally tender, heart wrenching and unique book. Its endearing story touched me as I am sure it will you. I loved the moments my heart ached, when I laughed out load or when my heart warmed with the growth of the characters. I loved that Abby rescued herself.

I liked that Todd, the heartthrob, is flawed yet willing to work on the relationship and better himself. I like that he isn't threatened by Abby’s success and allows her to be who she is, challenges her to

I wasn't one hundred percent sure what to expect based on the cover. It's a gorgeous work of art. Usually you can look at a cover and you know what you're going to get. I wasn't sure and boy was I surprised.

There is something charmingly sweet about Abby Kelly. She's wounded, she's flawed, she's broken and she's...sweet. I liked her immensely. From the first word. As she's self-destructing more and more. As she gets braver more and more and when she back slides...I adored her. I immediately

Abby Road is an emotion filled, thoroughly enjoyable love story. Ophelia London does a brilliant job of taking the “Hollywood Dream of Fame and Fortune” and giving it a healthy dose of reality. Even though the story line deals with the sensitive subject of loss and the angst of fame, Ophelia is able to craft a sweet romantic tale full of humor, compassion and love, that will warm your heart.

Abby, a highly successful rock star, finds her glamorous life is crumbling. Physically depleted from the

Take a second to remember all the coming of age stories you have read. Now imagine that the main character was a HUGE celebrity. Imagine dealing with the death of your brother, a parasitic manager, and just general life kicking you when your down in front of the entire world. Well that's Abby's life.

When I first started this novel, I felt it was a little superficial, but not in a bad way. I just didn't think the heavy emotional aspect was going to be present and I was totally fine with it and

This book was SO easy to get into and I fell in love with the main characters right away. I love a really good chick lit novel that has just the right amount of humor, character development, and a hunky leading man and this book did not disappoint.

The female lead in chick lit novels tend to annoy me sometimes. They're either too cliche or someone I could never see myself being friends with but Abby was an amazing character. She was sweet and open and vulnerable, with a terrible secret she is

Abby Road is a great feel-good read that I thoroughly enjoyed. She is an emotionally broken rock star at the beginning of the story, but then she meets sexy ex-marine, ex-Wall Street tycoon, Todd, who is able to help her smile and have fun again. As Abby’s recording duties call her back to LA, she begins to fall back into her numb, broken self until she realizes that she has to face the demons that haunt her head on in order get completely past them. Loved the idea of this one, and even some of the actual novel, but it ended up falling flat. First of all, the entire beginning of the relationship between Abby and Todd is skipped, leaving readers in the dark as to how their relationship works. Otherwise meaningful moments between the couple are also glossed over. Then you have Abby acting like completely different people at different moments of the book. The same goes for Todd, who makes an incredibly strange decision at one point, leaving me ...more

I was a little leary about this book. The description was nice but the cover art rather plain.

Once I started reading the book really drew me into the coming of age story. Poor Abby has a lot to deal with. Loads of angst and drama in this story.

It seems that I'm the only one who didn't like this. Anyway, I am not, and never will be a fan of insta love. I love reading books with flirting and being able to be with the characters while they fall in love. I stopped caring for the characters when they felt that they'll be together forever after 2 days. First of all, this is not a Christian themed book. A friend of mine knows this author personally and let me read this book. As a matter of fact, I have about 7 more books by this author to read.

I thought the cover of the book was neat. I could picture Abby as she started on her journey to become a "rock star".

I cannot imagine how stressful it must be to start out in the music industry. A good team helps you tremendously and the friendships that form are very important to a person's staying
