Revenge never tasted so sweet…

When Clayton Campbell shows up on her doorstep, Olivia Swift is stunned. For long ago, Clayton was the boy who stole her heart. He’s also the man her betrayal had sent to the gallows. A man she believed dead, now standing before her, looking leaner, harder, more powerful than ever, his haunted eyes filled with a lust she had never seen—for ven

Sins of a Ruthless Rogue is the second book in Anna Randol’s Sinners Trio. It’s an exciting tale of betrayal and forgiveness, all wrapped up in a story which proves that love really can conquer all – if you'll only give it the chance!
From the cover:

When apprentice Clayton Campbell discovers his employer is embezzling funds from his investors, he prepared to put a halt to it. But his plan is betrayed by his employer’s daughter, and he is framed and sentenced to hang. Fate instead hands him to the

Clayton is a member of a trio who were all spared death as long as they went to work as a Crown spy. Years ago, he was set up by Olivia’s father, wrongly accused of a crime he didn’t commit. Olivia had a hand in Clayton being set up, unknowingly however. Olivia and Clayton were young and in love, but Clayton came to her with information of a crime happening in her father’s printing company. She went to her father about the crime, a crime th

I expected a typical Regency with a jilted angry hero who’s come back for revenge (one of my favorite plots), but I was treated to a kidnapping, a spy, a Russian setting and a heroine who really isn’t as good as she seems. In fact, she has a big secret, and for once, it’s really a Big Secret, not so much a Big Misunderstanding.

Clayton is an apprentice at 15 year old Olivia Swift’s father’s paper mill. The two fall in love and then disaster strik

Note: I received an electronic ARC of this title from the publisher.

This book's terrible cover and generic and totally irrelevant title mask a fast-paced, exciting, intrigue-filled historical romance.

Some things that make this book stand out from the HR crowd:
* Spies. I love spy romances. Why aren't there more of them?
* Russian setting. The book starts out in England but quickly relocates to wintry Russia. Great change of pace!
* Romantic conflict that doesn't stem from stupid misunderstandings t

This was such a unique setting and the storyline definitely had potential but it just fell flat for me. The writing felt all over the place and though the action was exciting there were too many threads that were picked up and then never resolved or explained to my satisfaction.

Anna Randol is a new-to-me author, although this isn’t her first novel. It’s the second of a trilogy featuring “The Trio”, a group of young people who were saved from execution during the time of the Napoleonic wars. In exchange for their lives, they were put to work as spies for the British government, but with the cessation of hostilities, have been released from their service. I haven’t read the first book (yet), and I don’t think it’s necessary to have done so in order to work out what’s goi ...more

This is the second in Randol’s Sinner’s trilogy, the first being Sins of the Virgin. Sins of a Ruthless Rogue has childhood sweethearts, Clayton Campbell and Olivia Swift reunited. Clayton has come back to Olivia to get his revenge on her for her involvement in his imprisonment, his almost hanging, and his subsequent career change into espionage for England. Unfortunately, Clayton’s return leads his enemies to believe that Olivia is the notorious spy, La Petit (Madeline from book 1 in the trilog ...more

This book is such a lovely romance! Sins of a Ruthless Rogue is a different type of romance that will appeal to all romance fans.

I love that this book is different from most romance books out there. The only romance book that I can think of that is somewhat like it is Bride for a Night by Rosemary Rogers. This book is set, for the vast majority, in Russia as Olivia and Clayton fight an anarchist group. It was differen

I read the first book of the series yesterday and I was confused. I felt I liked the book but I was reluctant to say that I did. I skim-read a lot, and that is never a good sign. I had reservation about the characterization of the heroine. I finished the book feeling.....well, confused.

So I decided to read the second book, which is this one. Then I knew.

It is the way Anna Randol tells a story. I keep wanting to skip ahead. And her books are not slow-paced at all. This book is gracefully fast-pa

I love this wonderfully unique series that is quickly making Anna Randol one of my favorite Regency romance authors. The series is about the trials and tribulations of three infamous spies who are now retired and embarking on their new lives and finding love along the way. Each book is a thrill packed adventure for these three very unique leads. I was privelaged to review the first book , Sins of a Virgin , and was impressed with the Ms. Randol's writing style as well as her vibrant characters a

Clayton Campbell is looking pretty good for a dead guy. That's the first thing Olivia Swift thinks when she sees him. And the second thing she thinks is,

Because, see, it was Olivia who betrayed Clayton, the man she loved, all those years ago, got him arrested, convicted, and (she thought) hanged for something he didn't do.

She didn't mean to. And she's been trying to atone to the universe all these years since. But she can see in his icy gaze that he doesn't give a damn. He's here for revenge, a

I recently posted my review of the first volume of Anna Randol’s Sinners Trio series, Sins of a Virgin. As much as I adored that book, I love Sins of a Ruthless Rogue even more!

Clayton Campbell escaped the gallows as a youth of 17 by promising to serve the Foreign Service as a spy. Now ten years later he his free to pursue his plan for revenge against the man who betrayed him. You see, Clayton Campbell doesn’t do forgiveness or second chances. Yet everything he now believes about himself is rock

Anna Randol is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors! I cannot wait to read Ian's book. The premise might be familiar but she has taken us, the reader, to an unfamiliar setting. I am used to reading mostly about London, so St. Petersburg, Russia was very refreshing. I was very intrigued with Clayton from "Sins of a Virgin" and man he was an awesome character! He is determined, dangerous, and very sweet. He is angry at Olivia but he still goes after her when he finds out she is in danger be ...more

This book is part of “The sinners trio” trilogy, from a really young author only published till two years. It’s the second volume, but the three books are only linked because the heroes share a common past: they used to belong to the same team of spies. So I felt, while reading, that I was lacking a certain knowledge of the characters, but that didn’t really disturbed me. Note that perhaps I would have unde

Sins of a Ruthless Rogue was an amazing read! I loved it so much that I couldn't possibly put it down as soon as I started reading it. Anna Randol delivered with her story exactly what the summary promised the reader and then some more. I just fell in love with it and now I'm dying to get my hands on the first book of this series.

O what damage can be done by just one person whose knowledge is incomplete and whose trust is placed with those who are unworthy of that trust. So it was with Olivia Swift, the daughter of a paper mill owner who loved and trust her father, whose trust in him led her to serve as his accomplice in attributing blame to a young Clayton Campbell, putting him almost at the end of a rope. His reprieve is at the cost of his life as a free man, now serving his “sentence” as a Crown spy and to ultimately ...more

Olivia Swift is beside herself when Clayton Campbell, the beau that she believed was executed ten years ago, appears at her place of business for somewhat of a reckoning. Clayton Campbell was accused by Olivia's father, the owner of the mill where Clayton worked, of illegal activities which included counterfeiting. Clayton was convicted and sentenced to die but ten years later, he's back and very much a changed man, a man set out to ruin the Swifts and their mill.

Young and innocent, Olivia Swift

This is Randol's most polished book to date, in my opinion. The plot was well developed and the characters were layered. Not that they haven't been in her previous books, but I think "Sins of a Ruthless Rogue" ends up being Randol's strongest offering so far.

As usual with Randol's books, "Sins of a Ruthless Rogue" centers on adventure--this time, the characters are off in imperial Russia trying to stop the assassination of the czar. I think Randol does a wonderful job balancing the development

Anna Randol is amazing!

I love historicals, I love regency but sometimes, like with anything in life, change is good. Russia, how wonderful! In SINS OF A RUTHLESS ROGUE by Anna Randol, we travel to the cold, barren, frostbitten world of Russia in the time of Czar Alexander and the unrest that is already beginning to plague Russia's undercurrents. This action-filled, tense, dangerous, mystery-laden story is engrossing, captivating, and exceptionally endearing as Olivia attempts to convince Clayto

Using the fortune and talents he has acquired in his work as a spy, he maneuvers himself into a position to dismantle methodically the empire of those who once destroyed his bright future. The only hitch in his plan is that he cannot squash his body’s response to the woman who once has held his heart.

In this second book of Anna Randol’s Sinners Trio series it is Clayton/Cipher’s turn at happily ever after.

Now I know this author can tell a good story, but it’s her plots so far that I’ve been having a hard time with. If I had a hard time suspending belief in the first book of this series, this one made even harder.

I would love to tell you more, but I really don’t want to put forth any ‘spoilers’ so here’s what I did like.

I love a good espionage plot and this one wasn't too shabby. It was better than the romance, which wasn't awful. Why do authors drag out these things to the point of losing the sexual tension between the characters?

I'm not an author, but I know there's an art to building unacknowledged attraction between characters. It can be a powerful thing, a mere look or accidental touching of hands can give me butterflies. If an author does the buildup-fail tease too often or for too long, they lose that ma

Sins of a Ruthless Rogue by Anna Randol was an interesting historical spy novel. I love the fact that it takes us to Russia where there's a code to be broken. I wish I had read the first book in the series, it might have given me a different perspective to the story. I was not a fan of Clayton, I felt he wasn't the right fit for our heroine, Olivia. I really enjoyed the first book in this series, but found this one fell flat for me. The romance lacks....something. I never felt like the author dug deeply into her characters and the whole thing came off a bit superficial to me. This was one of those books where I would read a few chapters, put it down, come back an hour later and struggle to recall what I had read previously. Things did pick up a bit, and smooth out, for me once the couple lands in Russia - but considering how much I enjoyed ...more
