I heard Stacey Waite read "On the Occasion of Being Mistaken for a Man by Security Personnel at Newark International Airport" from this book of poetry and it blew my mind. Important book by one of the best LGBT authors I've read.

This book asks a lot of beautiful questions about cultural signifiers, young love, & how to live with a body that changes perceptions.

I bought this at smitten kitten during their birthday celebration this weekend. my pal from pgh is pictured on the cover. the poems/thoughts inside are beautifully raw. many are "accounts of being mistaken for a boy at...". it's a thin collection but filled me with angst and concern. and by adding this to my collection of purchases i got a hot little gift bag! happy birthday to me! read it when you think you know what it's like to be different.
