I wanted to love this retelling of the classic Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale, but I didn't. Puss in Boots was clever and his actions were selfless, but they wrong. The Princess fell in love with the miller's son believing he was a Marquis thanks to Puss in Boots, who then cons an ogre out of his castle for the 'Marquis' to call his own and impress the King. These just aren't good moral lessons for children. I read this story aloud to my daughter and she loved it. She made a pouty face when I told her I didn't. Perhaps when she is older she'll understand my point of view.
