Typographics 4

Rate this book
The Typographics series of books has established itself as a benchmark collection of avant-garde and innovative design. Typographics 4 continues this highly acclaimed series and presents a unique cross-section of the most original and provocative graphic design from around the world. For the first time in this series, Typographics 4 brings together both print and screen design work within the same volume. As use of the internet increases daily, so does the influence of screen design on printed design, and the distinctions between the two disciplines have begun to merge. This collection showcases work that celebrates the differences, but also recognises the similarities, in ideas, analysis, and approaches between the two areas of design. Typographics 4 brings you the best of the world's screen and printed design in a compelling and dynamic collection of work, which no designer, or design student, should be without.

The content of this book, released in the year 2000, is VERY much a product of that era. Style cues from David Carson reign throughout and web-primitivism, in Mac OS 9-era browser window screen shots, now appear more cute and quaint than as examples of sterling type use (even for that era). This book might be fine for a quick look back, not heavy on description or elaboration, but like much of the online design of the era, holds nothing to carry into this century.
