This is a very good book with full color photographs of hundreds of species of insects. The only flaw is that it is somewhat limited in scope, but there are far too many species of bugs for one small portable guide to list. This one however has a very nice selection of a very wide range.

This field guide to Insects of every sort is not only an identification guide but also a beginners guide to insect behavior. It utilized both scientific and common names of insects, shows one how to catch insects for study, details insects' habitats, and dwells on a number of different kinds of species within a genus. It is a must for any investigator's book shelf. An ideal reference.

The photographs in this guide are quite large, and very helpful. This is a good introductory guide to the more common orders of insects found in North America.
