Outstanding history of some of the most fierce fighting during the battle of Gettysburg on July 2, 1863 regiments from Texas, Georgia, and Alabama fought regiments from Maine, New Jersey, and New York in the vicinity of Little Round Top. The area known as Devil's Den saw hundreds of men from both North and South get killed or wounded trying to capture or defend this area. An excellent history of Devils Den from its formation to today, with an emphasis on the battle, of course. Well written and deeply researched, it is a must read.

This book is not just about the action at the Devil's Den during the Battle of Gettysburg, but also gives readers the history of the area, including the many evolutions of the post war battlefield and the money making ventures that ensued, along with the changes wrought to the field by trolley lines and roads.
