A compilation of short biographies of a few newspaper editors of, for the most part, Richmond, Virginia in the 19th century. Most of the editors were involved in one or more duels because that was the normal reaction when a "gentleman's" honor was impugned. A couple of the editors looked favorably on equal rights for African Americans and one of the biographies is of an African American editor.
