Packed with facts and figures, life in our state from when it wasn't a state, politics, industry, expansion, who came from where and where they landed and how they lived.
The best available survey of Iowa history. Unfortunately, she does not give much coverage to political history because she believes that is adequately covered by Leland Sage's history of Iowa, which is, indeed, thorough and reliable, but deadly dull.
