The Master's Men
'Everything which he has included is significant, and will help the teacher to obtain a clearer idea of the part which the Apostles played and of the inflance which their lives exert upon the Christian community today.' Teachers World
'In this splendid little book he makes the very most of information which is often extremely seamy, and shows a nice judgment in calling discreetly on the aid of legend, as at least an indication of the impression dman made on others, when history is silent. Preachers will find these chapters most useful, as indeed will all students of the New Testament.' Church Times

This is a very enlightening read that sheds light on the apostles on a much more personal level. In doing so, it also made Jesus more clear. I thoroughly appreciate that all avenues were discussed about each apostld, by what the Bible and other historic accounts hold. The author shared and sorted out probabilities of legend and truths, but always bringing you back to surmise what we ought to remember about each apostle. Ultimately Jesus brought them together, to grow in love.

I did not read this book cover to cover, but it was helpful in a study on the apostles, including some extra-biblical information and some legend.

Good summary of the lives of the apostles/disciples of Jesus.
The book tells what can be known for sure about each man, and looks at some of the stories that have also been written about them, and gives an "opinion" on how likely they may be to be true.
I learned some things from this short little book that was written in 1959.
