Under Lock and Key

Shackled Heart

On a stormy Texas night, Tyler Blackwell awoke from a car crash to find himself in a castle dungeon, bound under lock and key by an ephemeral jailer with haunting eyes and virginal flesh that begged for a man's touch. Mysterious Melissa Carnes - the woman Tyler had been sent undercover to defend from a deadly enemy intent on destroying her life - was more tempting to Tyler than any assignment. And being her "prisoner" had its advantages. But could Tyler penetrate the cold stone wall Melissa had built around her heart before the past emerged like the grim reaper to sentence them both to life terms...?

This was a pretty good read. I loved the characters, diverse and interesting. This was written well and kept me interested. There were emotions, suspense and mystery, manipulation, some twists and turns, a little action, great personalities, strength, courage, a little steaminess and a perfect HEA. I liked getting to know the characters and was pulled in pretty well after the first 2 or 3 chapters. Gotta see what's happenin'. ;) Good read and great for any time. This is something I would be more likely to read again and still enjoy. Enjoy!

One of my favorite tropes is Beauty and the Beast. In this serviceable story, our heroine is scarred on the outside but has a beautiful soul and our gorgeous hero is fighting internal demons. This has been on my TBR pile for quite a few years and I'm glad to get it out of the way. A castle and show horses add interest.

Oh my gosh!! This book! Of, first of all, I never realized my love for castles, horses, stables and romances with a great mystery entwined! This book was my favorite so far in this series and it’s gonna have to be something great to top this one, in my opinion. I want to read it again just to make sure I didn’t miss anything!! A must to read!!!

It was ok. I didn't love it or hate it. It just lacked a little something, but it is a decent read.

Sylvie Kurtz is a master of intrigue. From the very beginning to the very end, she managed to keep key pieces from you, even when the characters figured out most of what was going on, you were still in the dark until the revealing action happened. She kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. Strategically played out like a chess game.

It's a shame that this was only available for a limited time because it's definitely a keeper and one anyone who loves a good "intrigue" should read.

It was a definite page turner and Tyler Blackwell is an awesome knight in tarnished armor! He could save me any day!

A great bonus is the recipe for Grace's Chocolate Chunk Pecan Brownies!

A well-done treat! (The book, not the brownies. I like mine without nuts!)

My friend gave me this book a little bit after my 13th birthday and it is the first romance book I have ever read. It got me hooked on them for life! I loved every minute of it and it's a real page turner and full of suprising twists. I'd reccomend it for every book lover.

This is a new look at an old story - only reversed. The story takes place in a Texas castle (go figure) and involves family secrets, deep dark dungeons and a budding romance. Who can resist a quick read like this one?
