Lovely book. Amazing ilustrations. Any girl that reads this book will want to be a ballerina for a few moments after this absolute delight of a read. :)

Martine is the title character in a series of books for children originally written in French by the Belgians Gilbert Delahaye (author) and Marcel Marlier (illustrator). Martine was Ayşegül in Turkey, and the series did really well just as well as they did all around the world. I was one of those kids who read a few books from the series. This was my favourite Ayşegül book.

Not sure if this book was my first one of Anita's collection (Portuguese version) but it became my favorite when I was around 2 years old. By then, I couldn't read the story but loved all the illustrations. My parents say I used to practice all the dance steps in front of a mirror like a little ballerina. It is still one of my favorites.

Every year I start by reading children's book, remembering the happiness I felt when I read my Children stories, and now missing my two Granddaughters... Martine's stories are wonderful, as they help build, in the reader, a whole universe of beauty and harmony, creating a very special atmosphere.

I totally recommend these children's books to establish peace and beauty in one's mind, in the midst of these times of trouble!

I always start the new year by reading a lot of children's books, not only to remind me of my infancy and return to the stories that made me happy and turned me into a READER, but also now to celebrate my Grand Daughters and that soon they will enjoy me reading to them. The eldest one already does, in fact!

I own the Indonesian translation of this book where Martine's name is Tini. I know some reviewers complain that "what makes it less interesting is the fact that it is very technical, almost as an illustrated encyclopedia of ballet moves", but to me that's precisely why I love it so much. And, yes, the illustrations are incredibly accurate (all the positions are done in the ideal and in perfection—pretty much every character depicted is a perfect pupil, which of course is a good thing). I just wish it were longer!

I hope I can get copies of the original French/Flemish versions someday (to use to practice my French and Dutch reading comprehension).

"A Anita para a Anita, com um xi-coração da tia São" - é o que se pode ler no exemplar que tenho. Este é o meu livro preferido dos que já li desta coleção, foi-me oferecido pela minha tia numa altura em que andava entusiasmada com o ballet, e na impossibilidade de ter aulas, encontrei no livro uma forma de praticar. E passei horas, a observar o livro e a tentar replicar as posições... apesar de na altura ter bastante flexibilidade, nunca consegui fazer a espargata... mas diverti-me imenso! As ilustrações são belíssimas, as explicações muito precisas!
A minha tia ainda hoje me chama Anita :)

Tämä tarina oli kestänyt kauniisti aikaa; muistan lukeneeni tätä kirjaa itse lapsena. Baletinystävät ja baletista kiinnostuneet pitävät tästä kirjasta varmasti.
