Much of the book is a pretty straight forward accumulation of mildly interesting familial letters from Henry, largely to his mother, though his grandmother and a few others mix themselves in. In them, he largely avoids talking about topics of interest, perhaps to avoid shocking his mother. It was amazing to see how much he asked her for money, though. What really makes this collection of interest is the letters of Berthe Sarrazin, who was appointed as Henri's caretaker during his last few years.
