I didn't read the whole thing. I mean, this is a field guide for a range that doesn't include my home base... I picked this up for the prefatory material. I wanted to learn about the dragon fly in a general way from a source that was not wikipedia. Mission accomplished. Thorough overview of the basics but he does neglect to say how long dragonflies live for generally...
Very impressive collection of very useful information and photographs! The introduction gave a terrific overview of dragonfly anatomy and lifecycle with some nice humor thrown in to what could have been some dry material. I already had the 2nd edition and gladly got the third edition! Will give my Old edition to the grandchildren to use. They already like to go on nature walks and love to identify plants and insects. Great job with this new edition! Can’t wait to go Dragonflying!😎
I loved this little field guide! I used to have zero interest in insects, but after reading this field guide cover-t0-cover (Mead does a great job of keeping it interesting with accessible language and cheerful asides), I spent the rest of the summer obsessed with tracking down these flying jewels.
