Isha Schwaller de Lubicz spent her youth studying Christian, Hindu, Buddhist, and Hebrew theology and mysticism. As pupil of R.A. Schwaller de Lubicz and later as his wife, she went on to investigate other religions and philosophical systems, including Taoism, Islam. Her most significant work was done in Egypt, where she lived for fifteen years among the temples and the tombs. There, patient labor and exceptional circumstances enabled her to penetrate the secret symbolism of the hieroglyphs. Her discovery aroused the enthusiasm of the eminent Egyptologist Alexandre Varille, who devoted the last ten years of his life to verifying and developing its practical application. Thus was unveiled a wisdom that for thousands of years had taught men the science of life. . . and of its triumph over death.

This book tied together so many things I had heard about or half-knew from other books. I knew about the Egyptian contribution to Western Civilization (for which Greece became the supposed originator) and I knew about Buddha's flower sermon (although this offers the best discussion of it I have ever read) and I knew about different states of consciousness and how the Egyptian trinity pre-dates the Christian, but to have it all together in one long book was really helpful. The discussion of exoteric vs. esoteric religion was really clear and especially useful in discussing the monotheism of Hinduism. This book deserves a second reading.

This a great book for anyone interested in the spiritual journey. I especially loved the way she blended elements of Christianity, Hinduism, and ancient Egyptian religion to present a very holistic view of the journey into the light. The final chapter on the Christ principle is an enlightening discussion of various symbols in the Christian religion. Like all books by Isha or R.A. it is a challenging read but well worth the effort.
