This book is a little dated now but is till relevant. Strong story with lots of messaging.

I'd actually go 3.5 of this one if I could. It's a first novel, with above-average plotting that's willing to tackle differing views of extremism, sustainability, personal responsibility, and so on. The prose clunks in places, and the emotional aspects of the tale are sometimes rushed, so they feel hollow. I do look forward to more by Maslan, though, because she's got a good eye for building a solid story.
