Arthur Hollis had blazed a name for himself across the mountains. To the miners of Dorking Hollow, he was the most dangerous desperado who raided their mule trains. One day, they caught Hollis, tried him, found him guilty and was sentenced to hang. Then, someone suggested making him a member of the very committee that caught him in the first place. But who better to run out bandits, than the best bandit of all?

Max Brand, one of America's most popular and prolific novelists and author of such enduring works as Destry Rides Again and the Doctor Kildare stories, died on the Italian front in 1944.
As much as I enjoy Max Brand's book, The Guns of Dorking Hollow was a wonderful read, because the author did such an extraordinarily fine job of building his characters. If you are interested in writing your own novels, this book may be a good model for developing your characters.
