With a pesky god on her back and an unfulfilled oath from the previous Goddess of the Fountain, Thistle finds her new position taxing. Xavier keeps knocking on her proverbial door expecting Thistle to provide an heir for his position. Thistle keeps him out of the Fountain of Youth, but someone goes behind her back and extends an invitation to Xavier.
Also, Dirk Kragg, the clurichaun, returns claiming that Allanis left before fulfilling an oath. He's brought the Sanhedrin with him to back up his claim. Thistle reluctantly leaves the safety of the Fountain to complete this task.
A cast of characters from the Trailerverse joins Thistle in this final book of the Pricks and Thorns Trilogy. Tennyson, Kyrie, Killian, and others make an appearance to please the readers of Kimbra Swain's Trailerverse.
Pixie Recruit sets up the upcoming series Magic City Blues. Thistle's story in Savannah is completed with this book, but her story will continue in the next series.
From early in life Kimbra Swain was indoctrinated in the ways of geekdom. Raised on Star Wars, Tolkien, Superheroes and Voltron, she found herself immersed in a world of imagination. She started writing in high school, and completed her English degree from the University of Alabama in 2003. Her writing is influenced by a gamut of authors including Jane Austen, J.R.R. Tolkien, L.M. Montgomery, Timothy Zahn, Kathy Reichs, Kevin Hearne and Jim Butcher. Born and raised in Alabama, Kimbra still lives there with her husband and 5 year old daughter. When she isn't reading or writing, she plays PC games, makes jewelry and builds cars.

Thistle is in deeper than she knows. And Xavier is being more than just a jerk. He is pulling all the stops out to try to control her. But, bless Thistle, she has no problem fighting him. Only this time her life is truly on the line. And she hasn't been the Goddess long enough to appoint an heir. With the paths closed communication is complicated. And war is getting closer. The Queen of the Wild is finding ways around. And all fingers point to Xavier as her accomplice. Kimbra Swain has truly created another master piece with Thistle's tale. What and where this is leading to will be exciting to read.
Great finale for Thistle but does end in a cliffhanger setting it up for the next series.
I actually think the novella was a little too short and some parts could have been explained more thoroughly but perhaps in the next series we will get more answers.
The story did seem a little rushed, you can tell by the writing and proofreading or lack there of.
Overall a good read and necessary for the next series.
Kimbra ima just say it’s always so worth the anticipation to get to read these place u see so clearly but if I fall in love wit one more character ur gna never be able to stop writing lol no but in all seriousness it’s always a pleasure ur the only author I think I consistently feel the need to write reviews on bkuz I end up falling in love with these characters and these places and thank u very much for giving me an “escape”
She got the shaft! Stuck as a mermaid in a job she didn't ask for or want, Xavier is literally a thorn in her side as he keeps pestering ,posturing and threatening while she just tries to do the right thing. Meanwhile, the war is growing on all fronts and she's not sure how she can help or what part she and the fountain will play. She has become quite a formidable character in her own right and will wield her own strength in ways yet to be seen! An amazing conclusion to this trilogy!
Another confusing novella that has threads to the next Trailerverse series. A lot of information and intrigue packed into the story. I think I am more confused now but it was fun having who many known characters interact with Thistle and her challenges.
I love all the characters in all of Kimbras books. So excited for this part of the story and that we get more. I need more! Love the twists and turns. Never a dull moment.
Xavier has decided now is the time to get what he wants and he will do whatever it takes. This book was fantastic , it packed the punch of a full story and will make you forget it's a novella. I'm excited for what comes next!
